Re: Bayern Munich 1 - 1 Arsenal
Bayern have struggled to beat English sides in their home ground in the last 4 meetings. Its not a surprise at all, but they have themselves to blame here. They could wrapped the game up in the first half had a lot of nice plays, but either screwed it up, or Arsenal defend well against it. They don't seem to have that hunger this season.

My absolute bad.. I thought he was subbed off because of a poor performance and not because he was injured.RealGunner wrote:ExtremistEnigma wrote:Ozil.

it must be pathetic to watch Home games for Bayern fans against English teams, they do brilliantly in the first leg and then in the home leg, they try to relax a bit

Would it? Last season's Barcelona were streets ahead of this season's Arsenal and were humiliated in the CL.

And last season's Arsenal were way worse than this season's Arsenal but did better over 2 legs than this year...

Re: Bayern Munich 1 - 1 Arsenal
We have them a run for their money over the two legs and that was without our full squad. Who knows what could have been with a few of our runners fit and ready to playThe_Badger wrote:Lex wrote:Nobody is fancied vs Buyem, but at least, it would have been a closer gameThe_Badger wrote:Even if Arsenal had a full strength squad available, no one would ever fancy them over Bayern Munich.

Pretty sure he was laughing at Özil's first-half performance which mainly consisted of dribbling the ball out of play.

Yeah. You see an Arsenal player receive the ball in the attacking half, he looks up, sees Giroud there and his thought process is probably something like this:
"Is he going to make a quick run behind the CBs if I play a through-ball, á la Sturridge? Umm, no".
"Is he going receive my pass and turn to face the defender, threatening to make a bit of space for a shot or a clever pass, á la Van Persie? Err... I guess not".
"Is he going to drop his shoulder and turn the defender smartly if I pass to him, continue to run at goal with the ball, á la Suarez? ..."
"Is he going to pass it straight back to me or to another midfielder, without a hint of danger, just slowing down our play? Yes... Yes I think he will".
"Do we have anyone else up there? No? But Gnabry's getting ready to come on? F***ing A".

You really think Arsenal would have had any chance against Bayern Munich?
You're simply hypothesising what could have been after being defeated and never looking like troubling the Germans.
Even with the likes of Ramsey and Walcott, you'd have still gone out.

Re: Bayern Munich 1 - 1 Arsenal
Think Arsenal out-played the hapless Moyesie tactics Bayern over two legs, but that's just me.
If it wasn't for the stupid red card on Chesney, Arsenal might just have gone through.

Voldemort
Bayern as usual will get a strong team in the next round and they will win emphatically as the last year and will silence the doubters...it is just that they decide when to play and which day to relax a bit

Exactly. I was ignorant and didn't know he was injured. Would never laugh/wish an injury upon a player. Never.Art Morte wrote:RealGunner wrote:Wenger: "German specialist (Müller-Wohlfahrt) told us Mesut's injury us quite bad. Ham-string"

Anyways, does anyone else feel that Bayern have become a tad overrated post that 7-0 drubbing of Barcelona? These two legs just goes to show that this team is nowhere near the levels of prime Barca and will never reach those levels either.

You know what I rescind that statement. 'Out-played' is too strong a term.
Arsenal were better over two legs for me. And could've been in the quarters if not for the red card over this hapless Moyesie tactics Bayern.

They won a treble last year.
They are unbeaten in their league (20 pts clear)
Their defence has been stellar.
The play as a collective unit to the highest level.
They are clearly the favourites to win the CL this season (retaining it btw, doing something that has never been done in the CL era).
Yeah......... I'm not going to overrate a team like that.

Arsenal weren't better than Bayern tonight.
They weren't better than them in the 1st leg either.

Last year's drubbing of Barca came after a rather uninspired match against Arsenal in the last 16, too - and mind you, there they even lost at home.ExtremistEnigma wrote:Anyways, does anyone else feel that Bayern have become a tad overrated post that 7-0 drubbing of Barcelona? Re: Bayern Munich 1 - 1 Arsenal
zigra, you have a lot of balls son
You honestly want to stay away from AFC fans right now, their feathers have been rustled in the last 2 months.
They went from title challenging to their top 4 trophy, they almost knocked out Bayern getting "their tactics spot on" despite being 2 goals away. Keep in mind Bayern wasn't even playing at 100%, but Arsenal are still one of the best European teams you'd have ever witnessed. They do, after all, get out of the group stages year after year. You get a lot of pride for "outplaying" a team that clearly knew they progressed from the first leg so I don't blame the AFC fans today.
If only the red card didn't ruin the tie, eh. Definitely not Szny's fault, he's a top keeper, the best in the league ya know.
As for Wigan walking the Eredivisie, just lol. I want to see the excuses after Arsenal fail to win the FA cup after they BOTTLE it again.

EE, they actually put effort into that 7-0 game.
Why play at a 100% against Arsenal if you're going to go through anyway? It's pretty much like another Bundesliga game for them.
