Re: The Movie House - Part 4
RealGunner wrote:Legendary surprised the Comic-Con crowd today in Hall H with a new take on the classic monster realm known as Skull Island. The announcement came in the form of a short trailer depicting a harsh, stormy, green land that culminated in the reveal of King Kong howling into the night. The king is back!
Skull Island is of course King Kong’s home, a realm of mystery and monsters. So while Kong is clearly going to be a big part of this film, the approach looks to also be an exploration of the island.
Does it exist in the same universe as Godzilla? It better!
This was the rare true Comic-Con surprise. We don't even know who's writing or directing the film yet, but we do know it has a release date: November 4, 2016.
King Kong Vs Godzilla might happen one day
Well, it already has once (twice). And even then they had to nerf Godzilla, shrink his size, and give King Kong special powers to make it an even match. Current iterations wouldn't even be a fight.
Godzilla: 108.2 meters tall, nigh immortal, complete with radiation breath
King Kong: 8 meters tall, no special powers, has trouble handling a T-Rex.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
With its Hall H presentation getting under way at Comic-Con International, Marvel Studios has officially announced the roles of Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stole in "Ant-Man."
Lilly ("Lost," "The Hobbit"), who's been long rumored for the film, was confirmed as Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym. Marvel readers will of course recognize that last name as belonging to Janet Van Dyne, aka the Wasp, which will undoubtedly fuel speculation about the character's arc.
Stoll ("House of Cards," "The Strain") will play the film's antagonist Darren Cross, aka Yellowjacket, who was Pym's mentee until their relationship soured. One of Pym's many costumed identities from Marvel comics, Yellowjacket had been rumored as the possible villain for the past month.
"Corey brings depth to every role he plays,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in a statement. “As a major part of the Ant-Man ensemble, we all wanted an actor who could be both cunning and sympathetic, and help create a character as dynamic as Marvel's best antagonists."
The two join the previously announced Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym in director Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man," which opens July 17, 2015.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Well maybe this King Kong will be a 108 meter long Gorilla. Will have a much thicker skin where the bullets and rockets don't affect him much becoming nigh immortal just like Godzilla. And King Kongs unbelievably sharp fangs and his ability to climb and leap will rival King Kongs radiation breath.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Mulholland Dr.
Through the first hour or so it has that Pulp Fiction feel to it. It is really engaging and interesting. Through the first part of the movie there was signs of eeriness, those who watched it before will know what I am talking about. But then the second half, or rather the end of the movie. It was real strange, and maybe it is one of those films which you have to watch twice to completely understand and appreciate. However, I do not have time to watch the same movie twice in a short time, so I just checked out a film analysis of the movie on youtube and I think it was a kinda reasonable and understanding review. It's one of those films which you have read between the lines and it gives a hidden message.
On the directing part, I think it was incredibly executed. The actors was decent, but this is more of a plot driven movie where you have to keep up.
After watching the youtube video I could really aprreciate the work that David Lynch did on this and if you're really interested in the history of films then Mulholland Dr. is a must-watch imo.
My rating: 8.3/10
Blue Jasmine
A typical Woody Allen movie I'd say.
Brings forth everyday life drama and difficulties. And interesting characters. Cate Blanchett was really astonishing in her lead role. And uhm...it's just a decent drama which is likable if you want time to pass by.
My rating: 7.3/10
Inside Llewyn Davis
Reminded me a bit of Nebraska. It has that sorry-, but at the same time that light-hearted, humourish-feel to it. I quite enjoyed it coz I was in the mood for a movie of this sorts and I wanted to check this out for a while now. It's nowhere near being a Coen brothers classic, but again if you have some time to watch a light-hearted, simple drama then this is worth your time.
Also quite enjoyed the old folks music.
My rating: 7.0/10

Got around to watching Cloud Atlas again and it was more amazing than the first viewing. More things began to make sense and as I said earlier, the movie was even better. I just love everything about the film and the way it was put together.

As with most Wachowski movies...it takes itself a bit too seriously to the point where it overtones into pretentiousness. The asian-face is the best example of it for me.

So poverty-level Salt then?
Like ScarJo as much as the next guy, but it looks like I was right to skip this one. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 58% critically, audience gave it 52%.
The Rock's version of Hercules got 63% by the critics and 66% by the audience ....a good score considering that it lacks little to no substance.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
Lucy was either going to just-about work or just-about flop after the trailer I saw. I can predict that it was a plot flop right Barrett?
What did Scar Jo get herself into though? Just y'day I told my aunt how she's been starring in lots of very good movies lately.

Re: The Movie House - Part 4
She's the kind of Actor that only acts well when she has a solid director in my opinion.
Best part about Cap2 imo. Her voice made Her (god that sounds awful). She was also great in Under the Skin, even though that movie was one of the most boring things I have ever witnessed. Working with Michael Bay, Frank Miller and now Luc Besson has made her seem less great than in she has been in Woody Allen and Sofia Coppola's movies. She's not a Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, or a PSH. Who can hold their own in a bad movie. Even though I heard she was pretty decent in Lucy also. Haven't seen it though.

What did you think about Under the Skin?
I watched a movie analysis by Chris Stuckmann on youtube, that same guy who reviewed Enemy. Made more sense for me after watching it and I can say that the it was a pretty decent movie for its kind (you know, that art and culture type of films)
