Sherwood has lost 9 of his 22 games in charge, you have to go back 48 games to find Villas Boas' 9 losses.

Tick off another Tottenham manager that Wenger has survived smoking

Gosh, this apparent Tottenham takeover of London has been announced and postponed more than the supposed war in the 3rd season of The Walking Dead

I said it in the previous thread, but did anyone else notice just how scared the Spurs players looked in the tunnel before the match?

RG yeah basically the season wen't something like this:

We were top for the first 4 games or so, then Arsenal were pretty much top (except Christmas when we were top again) until 2014 in February where we destroyed you 5-1. Think City was top for 1 game after that and then Chelsea up until now. And now it's us Proud

Is that after today? Can' believe City's odds are so much better than ours. There's no question we're winning the league. If it were legal to bet here I'd put around 3000 quid on us.

Post by Onyx Sun Mar 30, 2014 9:05 pm

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists he is not thinking about the title despite moving back to the top of the Premier League following a 4-0 win over Tottenham.

Rodgers' side dominated Spurs with two goals in each half to seal the win, which takes them back to the summit for the first time since Christmas.

Despite going top, Rodgers says that he is not thinking about what could be Liverpool's first title since 1990 and their first ever Premier League crown.

"The dream is for our supporters, they want to win the title - but it is not in my thinking, my thinking it is to prepare the team and perform well and if we do that we can continue to win games and then we can see where that takes it," Rodgers told Sky Sports.

The Liverpool boss was quick to hail the club's fans, adding: "I thought today was as good an atmosphere as there has been.

"It is a monumental size of club and when we have that support behind us it is a real force and the supporters recognise how hard we are working and hopefully that takes us a long way."

Rodgers was delighted with how his team performed at Anfield, and the start they made after going ahead after just two minutes.

"To perform like we did from the first whistle it was an immense performance and I am very proud of the them today," he continued.

"We are very confident with how we play, a lot was made the other night [against Sunderland] of us being anxious but that was not it, today Tottenham had a spell similar to Sunderland but the difference is we were 4-0 up today and not 2-1, but the confidence in how the players pass the ball, the intensity, they are very calm and focussed on the job and it was a wonderful team performance.

"It is credit to the players, the mentality in each game, we have shown over the course of the season the flexibility in the team - we have a played a 4-4-2 diamond in recent games today but today it was back to 4-3-3 but with two strikers up-field with one side open - so that is credit to them the flexibility and the ideas we have in games, but everyone knows their job and when to press."

Sherwood

Rodgers also spared a thought for counterpart Tim Sherwood, and he insisted that Tottenham should give him more time - amid speculation he will be replaced in the summer.

"It was a great performance but Tottenham have some outstanding players. They are a great club and I hope Tim gets the time to put some of his ideas in place and if they give him that time I am sure they will do very well," said Rodgers.

Liverpool were the only top-four side to win this weekend, but Rodgers insists he is only thinking about their results.

"In terms of ourselves that can only be our concentration. There are some big opponents in this league, you can't worry yourself about other teams," he insisted.

"Our next job, and my next job, is to analyse West Ham [Liverpool's next opponents] and that is our focus.

"We have won eight games in a row and we are enjoying it, we will just enjoy it as it is a fantastic performance and now we just concentrate on the victory and concentrate on next week's game."

I can't begin to fathom what a difficult time it must be for Rodgers as far as dealing with media and correspondingly team morale is concerned..
