Arsenal v West Brom Preview Article-2615255-1D6DF4BE00000578-886_634x399
Arsenal's win against Newcastle on Monday has helped secure a 17th successive Champions League campaign

Premier League

1. Man City 80pts
2. Liverpool 80pts
3. Chelsea 78pts
4. Arsenal 73pts
---------------
5. Everton 69pts
---------------
16. West Brom 36pts

Arsenal amongst Europe's elite, again

"We have to get over the line and that's always the most difficult thing." That was Arsène Wenger speaking on Friday, before Everton's loss to Manchester City on Saturday evening - a result which confirms a 17th consecutive top-four finish for Arsenal. "I think overall, this season, we've been remarkably consistent," the boss continued at his pre-match press conference, ahead of the clash with West Bromich Albion on Sunday afternoon. Wenger did concede his side had "missed" the big games, costing the gunners a first League title in 10 years, but nearly two decades of qualification for the Champions League always helps ease the pain.

Baggies all but safe

Come kick-off time on Sunday, West Brom won't be mathematically safe, though, it would take a few shocks to see the Baggies relegated. By 6pm, they ought to be safe, courtesy of a probable Norwich defeat at Stamford Bridge. Sure, it has been a Premier League campaign full of shocks, but Pepe Mel's side are all but secure in the top-flight, on 36pts. A last-day clash with Stoke provides a further opportunity, in addition to the meeting with Arsenal, to escape any unlikely danger. West Brom's Spanish coach has a contract at The Hawthorns until the summer and will hold talks with the club in the summer, with regards to his future.

Team news

Arsenal

Walcott (knee), Gnabry (knee), Gibbs (fitness), Wilshere (fitness), Diaby (fitness) & Chamberlain (groin) are all unavailable, whilst Sagna (knee) is a doubt.

West Brom

Ridgewell (knee), McAuley (fitness) & Gera (hamstring) are all out. [b]Reid[b] (hip) should be fit.

City's win today means last two games are basically dead rubber

Which is good. We can play the full team tomorrow but we can afford to rest them next week in preparation for the FA Cup final.

Hope we can try few youngsters tomorrow. Game is at home. Won't mind playing Akpom/Bellerin/Sanogo at some point.

Although I do hope we finish on 79 points this season.

It's a good opportunity to rest some players but as El Gunner says, it'd be good to have momentum going into the cup final, so we shouldn't go too nuts with the rotation.

I'd like to see Mertesacker, Arteta and Cazorla get some rest tomorrow and against Norwich. They've played every minute of the FA Cup semi-final and haven't had a break since. I'd actually play Vermaelen and Flamini for the final two games, and rotate Cazorla with Rosicky. We don't need to push Mertesacker and Arteta for these games.

Likewise, we need to take extra care with Ramsey and Ozil now. Give them both 70 minutes or so then bring them off. I'm happy for Podolski and Giroud to play because they're scoring goals, but again, there's no need to push them too much. This is a great chance to give Sanogo some minutes, too.

It's brilliant to have the final couple of games be dead rubbers (pretty sure Norwich will be relegated by the time we play them), as hopefully that means the team will enjoy itself and play some good football. Maybe we'll finally win by more than four goals.

Will be interesting to see how we line up against WBA and Norwich. We have the chance to rotate and not risk our best players getting injured but still need the momentum going for the FA Cup.

If Fabianski starts in the final, do we play him before to gain some match practice? That's the position I'm not sure about yet.

This game is like one of those games in pre-season against Malaysia XI or so.

Bring Diaby on! And Jenkinson to give Sagna a proper farewell.
