Schneiderlin is B2B tbh, he just happens to be tactically smart enough to be able to sit a little deeper when needed.

He makes very nice runs off the ball and some late runs into the box.

Sissoko just runs all day lol, maybe i'm deceived because Pardew is a moron but based on his performances for us i wouldn't take him tbh.

Sissoko is there as a late game sub... he's physical and fast that is hard to handle if you're a tired defense. That's why he's selected.

Deschamps thinks about specific roles. He looks at who would be the best as starters and who would be the best as subs. He thinks (and i agree) that Sissoko is a great sub although not starter quality.

As far as Nasri... he had an issue in 2010 that kept him off the team, then he blew up in the 2012 Euro again. When he was benched for the 2nd leg against Ukraine in the playoffs, he threw a hissy fit. That ended for Deschamps. Just not a good guy to have unless he's going to start.

Also, keep in mind that France play a 433, not a 4231. Griezmann/RIbery are the two guys on the left. So where does Nasri play? On the right? He's a disaster there because he never stays in his zone lol... you end up have the right side of your attack vacant. In terms of profile, he didn't fit either.

The 3rd keeper has zero chance of playing. Traditionally, this guy is someone who acts as a liaison between the players and coaches moreso than a player.... Landreau has the charisma and the history to play this role perfectly.

I think Griezmann has a card to play as the starter on the right side given Valbuena's current form. France is going to be mostly a counter attack team. I can see Deschamps making Benz play more his role at Madrid to help buildup when needed and have Griezmann in there as a scorer from the side... i get the sense it could easily happen.

Mavuba and Grenier are actually really good creatively... Also, you have Ribery and Benz as forwards. Creativity is not a huge concern. What you need is for the midfield to control the ball without forcing the Ribery/Benz to play too low (problem in the past). Pogba-Cabaye-Matuidi can control the midfield.

creativity dont matter. Deschamps like Dunga, understands that modern football is about having power runners in midfield that can make runs in to the box but more importantly, are excellent in transition.

If there were worries about team spirit if Nasri was included, it was the right decision to leave him out. If it was only Deschamps who had a personal problem with Nasri, it was wrong to leave him out.
