He started training with Monaco this week to see where he's at and, apparently, he's too far off. According to Columbian media, there will be a press conference on Tuesday.

Really too bad. Stupid of Ranieri to play him against amateurs. Those are the games where injuries are most likely to happen since the amateur players are late on everything.

I'm very very very very bummed. It's for the best tbh it's a delicate injury that needs time and to force his recovery to play in such a demanding tournament definitely wouldn't be good for him.

I really hope our other strikers are up for the task. I have faith :bow:

It's a shame but since he's already training shouldn't Colombia risk taking him? The WC knockout rounds are about a month and a half away. Maybe (if Colombia qualifies) he'll be fully fit by then? hmm

Also, his replacement in the squad is very unlikely to play at all.

Maybe this is a simplistic view, but if he's able to train, shouldn't he go to at least be a super-sub?

The way it works is that he trains for a couple of days and sees how the knee reacts. If it swells up, he needs to shut it down and wait another 4-6 weeks. If it's OK, you take a day off and then train for 3 days straight... check again. If you can train for 3 days straight, then you need to test it in friendly.

After a week of training, he'll know if he can do anything. If you survive 3 straight training days, you chances are pretty good.

Gutted for him but they didnt stand a chance even with him.

That inflated spot in CONMEBOL got people delusional. There are still 3 sides in South America alone better than them(Argentina, Chile, and Brazil).

What really hurts is that they got a group without any big names. They can get second place in it, but that should be as far as it goes.

Columbia has some pretty darn big names... the mid is good, the attack is great and the defense is crap:

Guarin - James Rodriguez - Cuadrado
Adrian Ramos - Bacca - Jackson Martinez

Frankly, still very potent even without Falcao.

Radamel Falcao will travel to Colombia's training camp in Argentina next week, despite reports that the striker is poised to rule himself out of the World Cup.

The Monaco ace suffered cruciate ligament damage during a Coupe de France match in January and it has been claimed that the 27-year-old has admitted defeat in his bid to be fit to represent his country in Brazil this summer.

However, Colombia issued a press release on Monday revealing that Falcao, who took part in squad training with his club at the end of the campaign, is still trying to prove his fitness to coach Jose Pekerman.

"Radamel Falcao Garcia will join his team-mates in Buenos Aires," the statement read.

"The Colombian striker is currently continuing his physical work with his club side Monaco."

Pekerman must trim his 29-strong provisional squad to 23 players before June 2 and it has been reported that if Falcao misses out, the forward will join Colombia's coaching staff.

Is Zuniga back from injury? I haven't kept up and I'm almost certain it'll be Arias as our RB
