I very much doubt we have any interest in Cavani or Falcao. If we were interested in any 'big name' players, we would have gone after James, IMO.

He went for 60m. lol Shaqiri, who's in the same tier, is only going for 15 and we decided to get Lallana for 25 instead. There was no way we were going to get Rodriguez.

Liverpool baffled by reports linking them with Marco Reus and insist they've shown no interest in him despite suggestions to the contrary. Tony Barrett-The Times

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/11396362.Poyet_still_confident_on_Borini___but_admits_he_might_have_to_start_looking_elsewhere/

“We’re waiting but there’s nothing I can tell you because there’s no more than last week, no less than next week probably,” said Poyet. “It’s still ongoing.

“We knew that after he travelled and after the injury it would take a little bit longer, but we will keep working because we know him very well. Fabio ticks all the boxes because we know what we are going to get.

“We’re still confident it is going to happen, but the longer it goes, the more we have to look at other options because that’s my job. But every time you are about to make a step forward (with another target) you stop because you still want Fabio.

“It cannot happen that we are left with nobody though. It is a position we need to improve, but there are other positions we are looking at as well and I am working very hard to get the rest of the players we need.”

Fletcher and Wickham claimed their goals in the final ten minutes of last night’s game, and having fielded a lone striker for most of last season, Poyet is considering playing the duo alongside each other in the early weeks of the new campaign. “I think Connor is feeling better with Fletch next to him,” said Poyet. “It’s an option, and these games have given me information to make a decision on how we are going to play in the next few weeks.”

I actually don't really fancy either Falcao or Cavani - not that I think either would happen.

Podolski? hmm

Would you guys really take a big player like Falcao or Cavani? I mean having two first team strikers will be headache imo. I am not sure if Cavani/Falcao+Studge up together in that diamond formation will be successful as SAS  Neutral

Cavani would be a good fit. He's a perfect #9 to play at Liverpool and maybe with how good we've been to Suarez he could put in a good word. He's extremely hard working, can provide as well as score and is versatile (though he prefers to be a striker and we can accommodate that).

He's also a pipe dream. He would cost 50m+ and I doubt that we're prepared to pay that for him after his last season (I think it was a product of his environment, not his class, and even still 20 goals and 2 assists is not bad for someone who wasn't the primary striker on the team).

Let's hope Reus comes to Anfield and at least experiences the atmosphere. But Westfalenstadion and Dortmund fans are great as well so he's probably already used to it. Pity Sad
