Re: Arsenal are back?
they are a much better team though today than they were yesterday.
Oh and LOL @ Franchise for belittling Khedira when Barcelona are about to blow all their money on Suarez instead of getting reinforcements for defense and defensive midfield.
Khedira would be an improvement to Barca's midfield imo.

Re: Arsenal are back?
His current position is basically RF so he is happy with that and so are we. He wouldn't score 20+ playing out n out ST tbh.

Re: Arsenal are back?
Define "back"
Because they were top of the table for the most weeks of anyone last season but fell off due to big injuries to the likes of Walcott and Ramsey.
Could really argue they already were "back".

Capitulating in crucial periods of the season doesnt really suggest the Old 'winning' Arsenal were back more like a reminder of the struggles they went through in recent years.

Re: Arsenal are back?
I know that, that's why i asked Nick to define "back". If he means what you described then No they are not and signing some players won't immediately change that.
They'll need to back it up with trophies consistently.

Re: Arsenal are back?
If we sign a DM (Gustavo/Khedira/Bender/Schneid) and decent striker to compete with Giroud (Remy).. we should be in for a title challenge.
This was always the plan, pay stadium off, proper sponsorship deals. "Transitional period" can often be overused and an excuse, in Arsenals case it certainly was not. Stadiums aren't cheap. But instead people would prefer to call the best manager in England senile and incompetent.

They didn't fall off due to injuries.
You don't lose 6-3, 5-1, 6-0, and 3-0 to teams around you because of injuries, They fell off due to tactical naivety in big games.

Fwiw the positions everyone thought needed improving most urgently are CF and DM, unless you count Alexis as a CF none of them have been addressed so far.

Arsenal are close to signing Alexis Sanchez. Clubs reached a deal in principle for around 44M, and player agreed personal terms. [bbc]
Arsenal pay around 45M for Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez (25). [catradio]
BBC is the most trusted source in UK and they say £35M
Thats 44m in euros.
Barca milked Arsenal here.Good business for them.
Take away Song money, we paid nothing for him.
We got what 20m for Song?

Re: Arsenal are back?
Khedira is going to Chelsea, straight swap with Ramires
Also, Arsenal never went anyway, and signing Sanchez doesn't all of a sudden make them completely different.

Re: Arsenal are back?
I would say his career has been ridiculously succesful since joining Barca, and that is the objective truth.
But I think the only way the club is going to actually buy a CB is if they sell Masche. Which they won't. Because he's a leader and just signed til 2019.
So anyways it was just wishful thinking on my end hoping we could be forced into purchasing a CB rather than buy toys we don't need nor can use.

Not that it'll happen or matters, but how much do you think macsh would go for if Barca bought a more traditional CB?

@Kick - I can see Khedira going to Chelsea. In part cos of the mou connection, but also because I can see him more suitable than Matic - Cesc, or Matic -Ramires (obviously)

Indeed its funny considering their past but upwards of 40m euros for this guy who had like one good season with them is overpaying in my opinion.
Arsenal are not elite so they have to pay a bit more than usual if they want to land big targets.(But they're slowly getting there anyway)

Hence why it makes sense.
As soon as Mourinho realises that Madrid want Ramires, we'll swap them.
After Pogba rejects the hell out of us
anyway. Back On topic.

What does Khedira have to do with poor Barca transfers? lol
Switching up points dont make Khedira any better.
Khedira would be an improvement of Barca B midfield, perhaps.

Barça would sell Mascherano after signing a new contract? I would love that to happen but I don't believe Barça are planning to sell him.

Yes i'm sure having Walcott, Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, Podolski and Oxlade all out for months at a time during the season had no impact what so ever....

I forgot, it's only the finest of the finest for Barca. Let's see who you're left with then with Xavi off and Busquets over it.

Their whole backline was fit and healthy tho.Their defense was also supposedly called the best defense in the league before those games.

A defense is nothing if you don't have a midfield backing it.

Was your whole midfield out injured ?
Ramsey was missed i agree. But can you suggest that his absence alone was the reason you lost to teams by huge margins ?
