The Evolution of Bayern Munich
i was looking for a thread to talk about the evolution of bayern munich, i think we are going to see something very interesting next season with GUardiola playing 343, as he did vs dortmund in cup final.
When Guardiola signed Cesc to Barcelona, it was because he wanted to play that formation, they did for a while, and they wrecked teams on the way. Sadly, barca's defenders had turned mediocre and they couldnt last playing that way.
Now with Bayern, pre season is starting and that's how they are setting up in 343 already. Rode and bernat are playing the widest role in the 343 and alaba is in defense.
If they do play that way next season, we could see
it makes sense with signing of Bernat who is really a wing back, and the rumours of bayern wanting Cuadrado as he can play that right wing back role.
Very interesting formation i think.

The mere notion of Ribery being dropped any time soon lulz.

Dammit, now I'll have to post something irrelevant somewhere else to dispel your notion.
It was worth it though

That Goalkeeper thread which started off as just a comparison of styles but ended up as everything about goalkeeping under the sun?
Truth is I haven't seen enough of Navas but will watch some individual highlights too at least measure something outside his style.
Sorry for going off topic, will post thoughts on this thread later. Looks promising.

Re: The Evolution of Bayern Munich
Bayern are done, unless they get rid of the cancer Guardiola.
Dropping the 4-2-3-1 of Heynckes makes zero sense when you have the world's best wingers and fullbkacks, as well as a capable #9, yet that insane Philosopher-King-Turned-Circus-Freak brings in more of his mediocre countrymen, with Martinez being the only one of the lot to actually be able to contribute something to the proper continental game.
Bayern should rediscover physical play, groom a replacement for Schweinsteiger and Lahm over the next years, and stop signing midgets and wusses, they were at their best when being ridiculously fouled didn't make them fall over, but angry.

What about Thiago, top talent as well. Bernat is a support player, not sure he has an equivalent in germany

You can start off by posting your thoughts on Juve's appointment of Allegri.

Re: The Evolution of Bayern Munich
One of Robben, Ribery, Gotze, Muller is gonna want to leave. No way any of them accepts a permanent bench role specially since Lewa is a certified starter and it only leaves two other slots open in attack.

Re: The Evolution of Bayern Munich
Robben and Ribery are not getting any younger.
One of Schweinsteiger and Thiago is bound to be injured at any given moment.
And why would Lewandowski be more of a certified starter than the rest of them?

You have the best squad in the world, but your coach is convinced that he shouldn't play to their strenghts, but rather made up some lofty philosophy, and is trying to force your players into that corset. It will not work.
Last season, the more satisfied Pep seemed tactically, the worse you guys played.

Re: The Evolution of Bayern Munich
I dont think its the same 343 as Barca, either of Pep as coach or player.
That was a 343 with a diamond midfield, whereas you have a flat midfield. Though with Alaba and Lahm it could easily morph into it.

Re: The Evolution of Bayern Munich
Well sure, it's not exactly the same, but maybe he is flattening the midfield to correct something that went wrong last time, like cesc forgetting he has to defend. You would think in that setup Thiago has the freedom to push forward at will.

Re: The Evolution of Bayern Munich
Well yeah, different players, different set up. Bayern's midfield is alot better suited to it than ours was.
I think the key to the system is the two side players of the diamond/flat 4. They have to have the energy and ability to defend the flank, shuttle across to the middle and get forward to support.
Xavi and Iniesta were not those.

Re: The Evolution of Bayern Munich
exactly, Bernat alaba, Lham, Rafinha are excellent choices for that. If they sign Cuadrado, it will start to become really scary.

Re: The Evolution of Bayern Munich
If the cup final is anything to go by, Lahm will play CM though, Rafinha/Rode/Höjbjerg as right wing back
