United's problem last year was everything. United's problem so far this year is not conceding stupid chances. He will sort it out I am sure of it

United's problem this year is they have an even WORSE defence than last year. Last year, everything was equally crap on all fronts. This year, they have a strengthened attack, but a far, far worse defence. So it's basically a whole new problem altogether

United's problem last year was that Moyes didn't have Herrera, Di Maria, Falcao, Blind & Mata. Van Gaal has been awful and should be doing much better with that squad.

Think we will see the real United after January. LVG has turned the whole squad around in few months. Will take him 6 months to adjust it.

I'm not even panicking. I have faith that LVG knows what he is doing and that he has the capabilities to turn us around. The difference in our attack from last season, when we couldn't even create a single chance to save our lives and were heavily dependant on set pieces, is night and day.

Once he sorts out our defending, we'll be alright. A lot of it is down to mentality. The backline completely lost the plot once Clattenburg decided to screw us over.

Had Clattenburg not messed us up, we would have comfortably beaten Leicester yesterday.

The signs are there that we're gonna be a top team. It's all about patience right now.

Disagree.
Last year - Vidic, Rio and Evra
This year - Shaw, Rojo and Blackett

Tell me honestly which set is defensively strong.

1st set Apart from perhaps Vidic both Rio and Evra were pi$$ poor last season. In fact their aging legs were 1 of the reasons we conceded lots and lots of goals. Even Vidic was hot and cold over the course of the season.

Now moving on to the 2nd set
Shaw-  A Wonderkid who on top of that is already a proven name in the PL.
Rojo - Had an impressive WC. Sure he had a horroroshow yesterday. But 1 bad game doesnt mean he is a poor player. It will take time for him to adjust to the pace of the PL. And moreover he is a CB, had to play LB cos Shaw wasnt match fit.
Blackett - One of the 4 players who has featured in all games so far this season for us.  A player who is looking better and better with each passing game. A player whom it seems LvG is rating highly and whose quality is for the world to see.

Its a clear winner, the 2nd set.

BUT BUT..  having said all that, even though defensively we have as a matter of fact IMPROVED from last season, we also have lost a key attribute with the departure of the 1st set, that is LEADERSHIP. And that btw is the reason we are looking like a defensively shite team now to the outsiders. All these defenders are young and we lack a leader. And thats the reason we are going to rue not going for someone like a Ron Vlaar for short term. We will drop points in the next 10 matches also for sure. We United fans I guess are prepared for that. But long term I have no worries, these lads are quality and no doubt will improve with time.

Think we will see the real United after January.
That's too long and will eliminate their CL hopes. However, I agree that LvG needs time to implement his plan, strategy, philosophy. I expected 7-10 games to get them settled down. I think they were mighty unlucky in their last game.

What a hero. Sacrificing yourself for the whole forum. :/ Can't really come back from that, I'll go sit down now. Wowww.

Here's hoping 1 in your next 200 posts will actually be relevant/be true. :/ Or at the very least be consistent. You type 1,000 things and half of it contradicts the rest of it most the time lmao.

21:45 Arsenal ? - ? Southampton
21:45 Cardiff City ? - ? AFC Bournemouth
21:45 Derby County ? - ? Reading
21:45 Leyton Orient ? - ? Sheffield United
21:45 Liverpool ? - ? Middlesbrough
21:45 Milton Keynes Dons ? - ? Bradford City
21:45 Shrewsbury Town ? - ? Norwich City
21:45 Sunderland ? - ? Stoke City
21:45 Swansea City ? - ? Everton
22:00 Fulham ? - ? Doncaster Rovers

Any upsets coming in this evening's League Cup games? hmm

There's cupset potential in both Arsenal's and Liverpool's matches. Sunderland and Swansea to win the all-Premier-League match-ups.

The man is absolutely clueless.

Blackett is not even ready to play for United, let alone England.

The lad is a good prospect, but as shown last Sunday, is still very inexperienced to play at the highest level.

Pointless competition and should be scrapped. If we play our weakest XI and Southampton play a strong one as a I expect I wouldn't call a Southampton victory an upset.
