Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Watched the Korra pilot a while back but wasn't astounded but it sounds like I'll have to get back into this show when I have time. If it hits the same heights as Avatar later on then it will be well worth it.
Also having just watched the HBO Yearender video that M99 posted in the GOT thread I must say that I'm really excited to see Westworld turned into a TV show.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Season 1 is definitely underwhelming. I know some people that stopped watching because of season 1, but the series gets a lot better after the first season, and i think it's worth sticking with.
The seasons are short as well as the episode length, so it's not a time constraint.

first 2 seasons were average at best. Season 3-4 is where its ATLA level. Should keep watching it DOST, specially season 2 where you learn about Origin of the first Avatar (Probably the 2 best episodes from s2)

Other people here watch Korra
I'm catching up on Season 4. I have been busy, but made it through the first 4 episodes last night and am looking forward to watching the rest. Heard that something in the finale is insane
Yeah, stay the hell out of the anime and manga thread if you don't want to be spoiled
CBarca wrote: Korra really stepped up its game from season 1. Season 2 was quite good, season 3 was fantastic and so far I'm enjoying season 4. Don't think it's quite at season 3 level but still very enjoyable.
TLA/LOK are the cartoon GOATS
Season 1 was average, the love triangle annoyed the hell out of me(and everyone on the planet it seems) and things were rushed. I can understand why though, since season 1 was meant to be the only season until Nick ordered 3 more.
Things defo improved in the second season, and things only got better from there.
Season 4 was good, but you could see the effect the budget cut was having on the show, with people just standing there and not speaking in scenes or some people just not appearing at all during the entire season.
They did good though, the finale was GOAT and the ending scene still has me legit shook. I spend all my time on Reddit and other places now trying to come to terms with it, it completely *bleeped* me up.

It's hardly controversial to say Korra is better than 90% of tv-dramas today. Which main includes shit as N.C.I.S, C.S.I, Grey's anatomy etc.
And what the hell does that last line even mean in this subject.

Tongue in cheek you pos.
But tell that to the thousands of people that keep those shows going on their respective major networks.
And then where's Korra? Oh yeah, Nickelodeon

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Discrediting a show because it's a cartoon? So close minded
Also Korra being pulled from the network (if that's what you were referring to) doesn't mean anything except that Nickelodeon didn't understand the audience that was watching LOK, because viewing numbers actually increased Which also goes to show that it's not just a "cartoon" that appeals to kids, its main audience are people that are streaming it through the internet- i.e. young adult/adult audiences.
Also I'm at episode 6 in season 4 and so far I don't think it's much worse than season 3 at this point. I think it's highly enjoyable.
Definitely trying to stay away from spoilers and I'll be finishing the series up by tonight or tomorrow to make sure I don't get spoiled. Suffice to say though, from what I've heard...I'm pretty hyped for it.

Say if I wanted to watch this Legend of Korra show, would I have to watch the prequel Last Air Bender to full understand the whole thing?

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
you havent seen avatar the last airbender
To answer your question you probs can watch Korra without watching ATLA but you wouldnt FULLY understand all of the stuff and the significance of some of the characters family history (sons/daughters of major characters in ATLA etc).
Highly recommend you watch ATLA first then watch Korra. ATLA>>Korra and 90% of tv shows. Better than the likes of SOA, Justified, TWD, True Dectectives etc... not even joking

The fact that your manhood is threatened by the medium the fiction is presented in really worries me The Dark Knight Returns was really dark etc. Lot's of comic books aren't for kids at all. It's just a way of presenting a story.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
McAgger I think these guys are just trying to spark a reaction out of us by saying stuff like that 'better than 90% shows' thing.
South Park is different. It's aimed for the humouristic side of adults/mature minds.
I mean, who doesn't love South Park.
Oh and btw, someone hasn't yet sold Archer to me, come on I'm waiting. Almost done with Justified.
