What does Steve Bould do at Arsenal?

All I ever see him do during games is sit and never pass any instruction to the team, is this normal?

bouldy use to manage the u-21 team I believe. He does had his coaching/managing badges. You can tell bould's presence was felt through the team's defensive cohesiveness ....which did not really exist during the later Pat rice years.

This year though is a whole different story. Most of which has to do with the form of the players rather than boulds "methods" imo. Lets put it this way, we have not gelled enough to lift off just yet (blame it on injuries, lack of form, changes in formation if you will) .

There is a reason why wojciech szczesny won the golden glove award , and Arsenal had the 3rd best defensive record in the league and the highest count of clean sheets you know .

Coaches defense and helps training.

It's not his job to shout from the sidelines and direct the players during games. It's his job to watch and analyze the game and use what he sees to figure out how to improve next time. If he sees anything he doesn't like and needs immediate fixing he probably will just tell wenger and wenger will take his advice or analysis into consideration.

Then disregard it pushing everyone except the CBs as far forward as possibly. Leaving us open to a counter attack against Per who everyone knows is not the fastest CB around. Coupled with his makeshift "converted from some other position" partner of the week. A combination of RB and LB where all options seem to be more attack based and lack the defensive qualities we had at least at RB in the past. Along with a midfield of AMs, no DM and general lack of team defensive responsibility.

ever since he has been no.2, our defence has been A LOT better than it was. we can actually keep clean sheets now, before we couldnt at all.

You know what I mean. Steve bould isn't in charge of transfers. His job is not to tell wenger "well you need to buy better players. It is to get the defenders he has playing as well as he can.

Our defensive record overall has improved considerably since he has arrived. His contributions are quite clear.

The fact is assistants don't go over the head of managers, and tell them what to do. His job is to assist and advice...what he wants isn't going to happen all the time. But he clearly made an impact on the team

Ok fair points, but the way opponents score from the few chances they get is worrying. We have teams who only get 1 or 2 chances and they scored each time.

Our defense did improved but this year we are back to old Arsenal. Last year we started so well defensively we were one of the best teams and there many games that we were very lucky. There were lots of positives and Bould should some credit and should Wenger, but am not getting carried away.

The problem this year is mainly due to injuries (Kos/Debuchy) and the constant changes at the back. We have had just too many combinations for the back 5.

More like the back 2 and Schez. Everyone else has pushed so far forward they are just not much help if we turn the ball over.

Wenger's runs everything on the football side of things, everything.

Sweet fvck all, by the looks of it. Wenger doesn't want anyone to question him of steer him in a winning, competative direction. Sooner the asshole leave the better.
