André Schürrle agent says Wolfsburg have ‘verbal agreement’ with Chelsea

André Schürrle is on the verge of completing his return to the Bundesliga with his agent confirming a “verbal agreement” has been reached between Chelsea and Wolfsburg.
A sum of around €30m (£22.5m) is reported to have been agreed for the transfer, which Schürrle’s agent Ingo Haspel told Germany’s SID agency “should go through on Friday”.
“There are still a few things to discuss, but we’re no longer talking about figures,” Haspel added.
Until those have been resolved, Wolfsburg are holding back on confirming the transfer, focusing instead on Friday night’s Bundesliga meeting with Bayern Munich.
“The fact is, all of the required signatures are still lacking,” Wolfsburg’s director of sport Klaus Allofs told ARD television.
“No contract has been signed and I’m a bit old-fashioned and there are still some obstacles to get round. The ink is not yet dry.”
The 24-year-old winger nevertheless looks certain to return to Germany, where he played for both Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen before joining the Blues in 2013.
He would become the most expensive player in Wolfsburg’s history, eclipsing the €22m (£16.5m) they paid Chelsea for Kevin De Bruyne in the summer.
Chelsea are lining up a likely replacement in Juan Cuadrado who is likely to cost them around £26.8m including add-ons from Fiorentina.

We usually consign rumours about players already playing for us to their respective threads

Well I am constraining them here since this is the thread for transfer rumours, and it's close to deadline day.

Chelsea promised deadline-day rush to sign Shakhtar's £15m striker Douglas Costa
CHELSEA face a deadline-day rush to sign Brazilian striker Douglas Costa as Shakhtar Donetsk hold firm over their valuation of the player.

Two days in the window to get the deal done.

The Blues are locked in negotiations with Shakhtar bosses over the purchase of Costa, 24, and have already had a £15million bid rejected.
Shakhtar are determined to get more out of Chelsea and are willing to wait until deadline day to strike out a deal.
They are also nearing the sale of Luiz Adriano to Roma - leaving Arsenal and Liverpool in the cold - but club CEO Sergei Palkin says neither deal is finalised yet.
He said told Ukrainian site Sport Express: "We are in negotiations.
"But until now, neither of these clubs [Roma and Chelsea] have made a satisfactory offer, so naturally we’re not going any further.
"These are the only clubs we’re negotiating with. Usually these transfers are concluded on the last day of the window [February 2], unless the negotiating parties come to a compromise."
Chelsea are also close to securing the signing for Fiorentina ace Juan Cuadrado, who is set for a medical today ahead of a £26.8m deal.

Is it wrong to hope we're unsuccessful?

Re: January Transfer Window 2015
Admittedly I can't say I know all that much about him, but for some reason this smacks of the club going after a painfully average player just for the sake of making up the numbers (see: Salah).

He is better than Salah, he is a vital player to a strong Shakhtar, compared to a bench player at Basel.
If he is anything like the other former Shakhtar Brazillian in our team, he'll be fine.
At the end of the day, we should only pay max 20m for him and if he is a handy player, it'll add depth to our team, if not we can sell him and bring Thorgan in during the summer window.

If anything, I'll hope he's not like Willian. Not that I'm saying anything bad on him. He's has things he's good at and does them very well. But one winger who can't score, can't assist, and has the final ball of a Sunday League player is plenty thank you.

Re: January Transfer Window 2015
He won't be a carbon copy of Willian.
I do think we need 5 AM's though, Jose has said he hasn't rotated due to how poor our depth is, so if we improve our depth, surely we'll have more rotation?

I think we need 5 too, just so long as each is good enough for Chelsea.

I would be averse to Schurrle staying. Not at all, in fact.

Re: January Transfer Window 2015
Huh? You would or wouldn't?
Schurrle staying is fine with me. He can still be useful and as long as we still get Cuadrado, we'll be much stronger.

Re: January Transfer Window 2015
Odd considering I usually proofread everything before I post it too.
But no, I think he could be very useful. In fact, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to giving him another season next term even. There's no denying he's had a poor campaign thus far but with all his injuries and illnesses it's halfway excusable, and his quality and potential haven't disappeared because of them.

Re: January Transfer Window 2015
Exactly.
Plus, as long as Cuadrado joins, we'll have made a step up.

Re: January Transfer Window 2015
Any post-window squad that didn't include Salah was going to be a step up. Everything after that is just icing.
