I thought his bias was reserved for British clubs, but Arsenal could be playing a team managed by Hitler and he'd be throwing up Nazi salutes all night and getting the peroxide formula ready, so it's not that he's supporting his own. No, it seems he has a fondness for Liverpool

Tonight was a brilliant example

The more the night went on, the more the "neutral" facade dropped away. He was practically in tears when Markovic was sent off, frantically multi tasking between telling us a finger in the eye didn't warrant a straight sending off and tweeting UEFA's page to see if he couldn't get the red overturned. Every little nip and tug and tussle from a Basel player was met with incessant claims that that should be a 3 match ban and a hefty fine. He was openly HOPING that Liverpool would win and dump Basel out. When Gerrard scored that (beautiful) free kick, you've never heard a man so happy in your entire life. It's like he'd won the lottery, or a free kebab

I know most commentators support team(s) from their country when playing against foreigners, but surely there has to be some sort of professionalism in place?

"He stopped being a commentator at around the 60th minute mark and turned into a Sunday league soccer dad cheering on his kid, or one of your mates down the pub cheering on his favourite team"

It was cringeworthy at times. He was like 'oh' when the Basel goal went in and did little to hide his utter devastation when Markovic got sent off, as you noted, and I think his missus will have a fair bit of scrubbing to do on wash day next to get all the splooge stains out of his trousers from that Gerrard freekick.

ITVs entire team are cringe worthy as hell and quite frankly Sky are not much better.

Martin Tyler made me want to kill someone with his disgustingly thinly veiled pro-British attitude all game so I feel deeply for anyone that had to endure something worse

He is so biased for Bayern that he will even argue against stats [that are unfavourable to Bayern] that are shown on screen. What's worse is his commentary consists of describing the most obvious things on the pitch and anytime a team puts up a fight against Bayern the game itself is a tactical master class.

This is what we have to put up with in England.

Deep in your hearts you all know Clive Tyldesley is better than Tyler.

He is a complete joke. Today's match he was far more biased than he was for City against Bayern. Full of "go on!" and "yesss", added with oohs and aahs everytime Liverpool mounted an attack or a semi decent chance on goal. They way he yelled when Gerrard scored was embarrassing. Sounded like he was about to cry when the full time whistle went.

He even had the audacity to say neutrals will be gutted that Liverpool have gone out. Yeah, I bet United and Everton fans are crying in their sleep tonight, or any other rival fans of Liverpool's for that matter. Buffoon

Last time I ever go against not muting this clown. In fact, the entire ITV panel of pundits, spearheaded by that utter buffoon Adrian Chiles, is awful.

I don't really mind at all tbf, more entertaining than complete neutrals. What exactly do people hate about it? In Denmark it's widely widely accepted and encouraged to cheer for a national club like it's your own internationally, and if even it wasn't, I still don't see a problem with it at all.

It's ok in small doses, would be more acceptable if the commentators fangirling over a club didn't do so at the expense of the other one by downright shitting all over them

Fkn Sky could be watching a PL team getting beat 8-0 by a Russian team and all you'd hear is how shit their league is and how they'd never do it if they were in the BPL

You lot would rather have them be as horrible as possible, so you could post videos of them and mock them, than have commentators that fit the criteria you listed

The Danish ones are usually pretty good and funny in pregame shows tbh.

Would think it's hard for most English commentators to stay less passionate because it's such a big part of the English culture.
