I'm sure they could have attracted someone with more experience and maybe even half a brain, but they went with wee Timmy anyway. Which if anything, makes their appointing him even worse. Why go for someone with 6 months' experience both in the top flight and as a number one altogether (and a pretty mediocre 6 months, at that) if they could have signed up someone who'd have given them a better chance of staying up?

They'll stay up regardless, people underestimate how bad the bottom half is. It's the same with us as shite as we and Villa are we/them won't go down because there are multiple teams who are worse.

He'd been the U21's manager for 2 years before rightfully earning the caretaker job and in that time he'd got to the U-21's final, and had created massive talent that Tottenham are currently reaping the benefits of.

Now i'm not going to act like theres not a massive difference between U-21's football and a premier league relegation battle, but I think he knows this is the best move for him. Villa has got good youth talent that would be looking to prove themselves and a top striker in Benteke that when motivated much like Adebayor, can stick the ball in the back of the net.

If he can get a proper system worked out, I actually think this could be a really good move on Villa's part.

Obviously landing any Premier League job is "the best move" for Sherwood. Under-21's management doesn't really count for anything, there are probably thousands of coaches in England who have been coaching U-somethings.

Who knows, maybe he'll do great, but on paper he's not the sort of option I would go for for a team in relegation battle.

His appointment does sit with the weird bigger picture in the Prem as of late; Managers with very-little-to-zero credentials landing jobs. In the Premier League. QPR appointed that Ramsey guy, Newcastle stuck with Carver, West Brom hired Irvine in the summer, Swansea appointed Monk straight from their team... You'd imagine that being a manager in the Premier League would require more experience and accomplishments than what's been the trend recently.

Tactical prowess of an ant and combines it with being a genuine clown of a man. Hope he fails, and he will.

Really don't understand your disdain for Tim, guy took over a team coming off 5-0 losses and brought them to a respectable league position, identified future talent and was responsible for also producing some of the talent we currently have in our youth squads.

Only things I can give criticism towards is the way he has spoke up in the media recently or possibly the way he handled media and Sandro, but Pochettinho has also identified players such as Sandro, Kaboul, Lennon and Adebayor as players not willing to adapt to the managers philosophy. Or is it merely the fact that he didn't scrub as well as your great leader, AVB

From what I understood Sherwood had his fair amount of options to go to other Prem clubs, but ultimately went to Villa.

You bring up a great point about recent managerial hirings, and could probably be used to further prove my point, but on the other hand you have to consider the likes of Ramsey, Carver and Sherwood at the time of his appointment at The Lane were all familiar to the club and new the inner workings already.

As you stated, who knows if he will do well. I just thought the reactions throughout the thread were a little quick to write him off.

Same way Pardew is, he's arrogant and full of himself despite accomplishing nothing and almost always blames others for his failures.

He's a dickhead in every sense in the word, I don't think he's as bad a manager as some are making out though. Nor is he as good as the media believe.

Aaaaaaall righty then, the Prem's back!

Aston Villa v Stoke City
Is he going to be Dim Tim or Sherwood The Savior at Villa Park? Stoke are comfily in mid-table, perhaps making holiday plans for the summer already, but Aston Villa need some points from home games like this in their relegation battle.

Chelsea v Burnley
And Burnley need points in their relegation battle... A bit difficult to see that happening today at Racist Stamford Bridge where Chelsea have scored 26 and conceded 4 in the Prem this season.

Crystal Palace v Arsenal
Come on, Pardew, you beauty Proud

Hull City, v QPR
Can Mr. Ramsey find the recipe for success? Can he put together the right ingredients for a delicious dish of victory? Does he know how to cook tiger meat? It's a pity I can't actually use these puns since Gordon is Ramsay and the new QPR manager is Chris Ramsey. But let's see how he does, anyway, hopefully he hasn't bitten more than he can chew...

Sunderland v West Brom Albion
It's beautiful.

Swansea v Manchester United
Swansea are a good team at home, but their goals have dried up since Bony's departure and they have only one win in the last seven. The fact that it was against another top-4 contender, Southampton, gives me hope that the Swans are going to drown the Dull Devils.

Manchester City v Newcastle United
Well, surely it can only go one way, here, right? If it doesn't and Newcastle actually get a result, then Man City can be considered a top-4 contender instead of a title one and Carver will sign an eight year contract.

that bald head of Pulis Proud

about Swansea vs ManUtd, if they manage to win this game today in spite of playing shit, they are surely getting in top 4....because at the end of the day, result is all that matters ! And I dont think so many flukes can happen, that just means they surely know what they are doing hmm

Of course they can, Chelsea have already dropped this big of a lead once already.

Lol at done and dusted for a while, they were level on points in the new year until City decided to choke like 3 weeks on the trot.

This isn't lol Liga.

Pls mole, in lol liga if you lose 2 games by accident you never recover with 2 teams breathing down your neck. In the PL Chelsea could lose 2 matches and still be the favorites.
