Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
If they want to make 500Mill each for their own pockets they'll agree to a bare knuckle last man standing rematch. Seems the obvious thing to do.

Just noticed no sign of Rebs.
#pray4Rebs
And well if there's a rematch, they should make a stipulation that the winner only gets the money. Hopefully then Pac will come up with a competent gameplan

Glad you're finally leaving this thread. You can't follow our sophisticated discussion of the fine arts like boxing.

Only reason I didn't troll Rebs He might not particularly be a Mayweather fan but he was just as aware of what the end result would be as Me, Dani and the rest of the guys who frequently post in this thread.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
Not sure why so many people are disappointed with the fight, the way it went down was always going to be one of the most likely scenarios.
I would say I was disappointed with Manny but then again Floyd just made it that difficult for him.
I'm not sure who the next fights should be, I think Paulie is trying to engineer himself a fight with Manny which could be somewhat interesting.

Most people knew Floyd would win. I just noticed Rebs not posting anything at all
Oh well, gonna watch Khan vs Allegri next. Hope Khan wrecks him in warmup for Floyd

Want to see Khan fight Kelly Brook and Miguel Cotto before Floyd tbh. But then it will be far too late. Doubt Floyd will consider Khan as his last fight. We'll see.

Khan and Brook at Wembley.... Although not sure the hype would be big enough yet.
Still that. Would be class if we could get it done.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
I really can't see anyone left at 147 which is anything but waste of time, I was looking at guys like Andre Ward but then realised it's like a 20 lb weight difference and even at a catch weight that's too much to ask.
So the highest you could probably go is middle weight and probably do a catch weight of something in between the two weights.

Isn't Floyd on 48 and 0? Surely next fight won't be his last. Seems like anybody with any ego would want to hit the 50 milestone even if it's against a handpicked scrub

The reason why it's his last fight is because it's the last fight on his 6 fight deal with Showtime and he already said on multiple occasions he'd pack it in when the deal was done.

Re: Boxing thread - Part 2
If 'real' boxing fans enjoy a guy jogging around the ring, 95% of the time hugging and blocking punches, while the other fighter is just helplessly throwing punches tryna box, then good for you.
This fight looked like it was more about the money rather than the spectacle. Both fighters couldn't care less about the fight imo. All the effort went into the pre match hype and all that "greatest fight in history"- absolute bs.
By next week this fight will be forgotten about. The biggest L goes to those who paid money to watch this.

Nah, I was waiting for Floyd to keep going up, and he did to 1.95 by decision, but the site wouldn't workRealGunner wrote:Want to see Khan fight Kelly Brook and Miguel Cotto before Floyd tbh. But then it will be far too late. Doubt Floyd will consider Khan as his last fight. We'll see.

No idea.
Maybe Khan, but who goes out fighting Khan? Its so underwhelming.
I dont get why he dont just retire if he isnt going for Marciano's record.
well he still has one match left on his contract with Showtime.
Also I agree with Jibers, it was a combonation of Manny's speed and the threat of his left which probably made Floyd cautious about using the left hook.
I know but he is Floyd, he can do what he wants in reality. Nobody can make him fight.

This was a fight I think all real fight fans enjoyed, wasnt exciting so to speak but it was a interesting fight. Joe Public obviously clueless and want a pub brawl, they need to go find something less complicated than boxing.
I don't know about that. Did real fight fans, at least neutrals, enjoy this thoroughly one sided affair? Pac's gameplan was nothing, Mayweather schooled him.
It was one sided but we saw alot of skills on show and its not like Manny didnt pose a threat. Manny couldnt land which made it one sided, but if he did it would have caused problems so everyone was waiting for it. As someone who watches fights often it was interesting to me, to see how Floyd controlled him and how Manny couldnt find a way past the jab.

Thats the difference right there.
"Real" fight fans didnt see that at all, only casuals who dont know what they are looking at.

Manny Pacquiao said that he suffered a shoulder injury 3 weeks before the fight which made it hard for him to use his right hand.

Exactly lol, he wasn't jogging at all. He was standing in the middle of the ring slipping punches and countering with accurate shots.
You don't be as effective as he was by running around the ring because you eventually get caught what those are claiming about running and defensive style didn't happen.

Smart move to make more money, the donk fans will be like "DIZ IS WHY MANNY LOST".
Outcome will be the same but hopefully it if happens it would be slightly more competitive I'd imagine.
