Deserved loss.

Offered nothing at all.

Whats the point.

Wish I can fast forward to May just so I don't have to see that **** manage us ever again.

don't see why it's so disrespectful for spurs to put out a weaker team tonight

they have the best chance they'll likely have in the next decade at winning the league atm and CL is pretty much guaranteed for them

PL > europa league for them

Martial looks knackered. He's damn near played eevry minute up until his recent 2 games off due to injury.

Shouldn't you compare Origi to Depay ? it's as if you're implying Martial and Origi are comparable / on the same level . hmm

Martial reminds me of Sterling at Liveprool last season.

Far too many minutes, responsibility and expectations on the kid, not because he's expected to do it all per se but because simply there's no one else so effectively he is supposed to be the main striker at a huge club.

That's not possible.

It's clear he'll look worse at times.

well Martial is more skilled with the ball at his feet, some nice tricks but Origi is more physical and makes very intelligent runs and is a clean finisher. But Martial definitely has a higher ceiling.

Also, I dont think this tie is over at all. Liverpool are still mentally fragile and specially our defense with Mignolet there, can always gift a goal to ManUtd.
The only and biggest advntage we have is we did not concede an away goal so if we score even one, that should be 100% done through to the next round.

An excellent display from us, apart from finishing. Out-worked and out-skilled United. But Helmer's right, at 2 - 0 it's not over yet.

We just need to be aggressive in the second leg to get a goal. Once we get an away goal this tie is done.

Tbh this is Spurs best chance for an EPL title in god knows how long, and they're matched up against an amazing team in the EL. It's fair to prioritize EPL/making sure Spurs can lock up CL for the season, and not risk tiring out the team in a crucial stretch of the season. Do I like it? No, I wanted to see a good Tottenham team take on a proper European team like Dortmund, but I can't blame Poch. Tuchel's comments are out of line--he knows what team he faced today.

Where you can criticize Spurs is what this does for the coefficient, but you can't even do that, since Spurs have been carrying the UEFA coefficient for England the last couple years as they have consistently done more in the EL than any English team in the CL.

Spurs are a key player injury away from getting out of the title race, and their top 4 status is not as secure as it used to be. I don't agree with the decision but I can see how it was made. They're simply not a deep team.

If your squad can't deal with Dortmund on Thursday and Aston Villa on Sunday you are simply not good enough, no need for excuses. Dortmund played Bayern and will play Mainz next who are 5th in the Bundesliga table and recently beat Bayern at Allianz. They still competed like men. English football lacks champion's mentality, nothing new.

I think the whole squad thing is BS anyway, Dortmund hardly rotated for Bayern and this game. Why is it that a small squad is a problem for English teams but not foreign teams with just small of a squads?

To me it's just an excuse and that's all it is.

It's a big time excuse Moal. We've been knocked out of EL in the Round of 32 the last 2 times by Zenit and Besiktas playing our best XI both times. Premier League teams are just not as good compared to their counterparts around Europe.

Not speaking about English teams in general, just Tottenham, the youngest team in the league. Look at who their midfield replacement options are: Mason & Carroll Laughing The don't even have a 2nd CF and are forced to play Chadli there.

They have simply made a calculation to put all their chips on their chance to win the league. If it works out we will be talking about this very differently in a few months. Btw it's not just about the next match, Villa is easy, but this is about the past 4 months playing twice a week. The English schedule is very condensed with very few week long breaks, it definitely takes a toll by the end of the season, especially for such a high pressing team as Spurs.

They are Spurs. Their chances of winning the Premier League are even slimer than Arsenal's. City will overtake them very soon.

I wouldn't say that, more what i was saying is that they could use their first team without risking fear of burnout.

It's an excuse in the sense that they don't need to rotate half a team and be fresh for the weekend and the excuses made for that to justify it are just that.

Dortmund's squad is hardly any bigger yet they seem to manage it, Tottenham don't need to be resting players basically.

But that's not a fair comparison, in Germany they have a winter break, only 1 national cup and the season is more drawn out. It's easier to have a thin squad in Germany.
