Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Inception was subjected to intense debating as well, with the difference being there the haters or the critics didnt have much clue on what they were talking about. lol
They were somehow convinced the film was flawed and was going full throttle at it and Nolan.

Pirloisjesus wrote:Basically all Nolan films are complicated take eg. Memento. Even dark knight triology more so the second one is also quite complicated with various subplots revealing gradually. The thing with interstellar is it contains concept which barely few can identify with without using Google.
Memento is his only complicated film imo. The others are explained so much throughout. Memento is the only one that HAS to be watched multiple time. Inception to some extent. Interstellar is really typical father/daughter story.

Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho https://i.imgur.com/7wuXfar.png
5/5
That's my third Hitch film finished now. First was North by Northwest and I loved it, especially the narrative itself. I think it was wonderfully written. Also 5/5
Vertigo was a bit of a drawback for me, but still a good 3½/5

I recommended it to a lot of people a few pages back. I wish more people would see it because quite frankly it is amazing.

Also watched it last night.
Liked it as well, especially the way they told it from both their perspectives, that was a nice touch. There's actually a chance to make a sequel out of it if Rob Reiner wants to.

Watched Sicario. Del Toro elevated the movie from decent to very good. Holy shit. What a performance. Should get nominated for Oscars at the very least. Best Supporting Actor till now is between him and Oscar Isaac for me.

The Martian was great. Never a dull moment. Damon of course killed it. Loved Donald Glover and Sean Bean too. Very faithful adaptation of the book. A welcome return to form for Ridley Scott.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
Btw I've read the book a long time ago. A really long time ago, had completely forgotten the title, and it's nothing like the movie. There is no Caleb character for one. And John ends up playing the antagonist role. But anyways the first 40 minutes of the film I was having deja vu. Couldn't quite place it where from.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
- Spoiler:
- Yeah I also think he really did, but the thing that seriously bugged me was that Caleb was right above the hydroelectric setup so surely if he fell the long piece which caught the water and transfered it to the wheel would've been damaged, no?
I loved the first hour or so though. The whole mood and choice not to expand on what actualy happened, and just sort of going into the story reminded me a lot of The Road. Then the second half of the film the actors stepped up and stole the show, I was fearing it would become a cringey love triangle story but the film always felt too serious for it to ever go that way.
But I agree it could've been better, maybe the ending could've been a bit more intriguing or intense I don't know, but then again it felt like the film did exactly what it was trying to do and that it stayed honest to it's intensity and mood level throughout. So I'll give it a very impressive and strong 4/5.

Even if it gets great reviews Seriously, prime example of hating something just because you want to hate it. I mean there are people in this forum who did not like any of the films (you have not even watched all) but you don't see anyone else making promises not to see it or posting facepalms and words like "garbage" "pretentious" "overrated" on a Star Wars thread.
You are potentially missing out on a movie you could very well enjoy just because you want to hate it, You did not watch any Star Wars film not directed by George Lucas and you write of the entire franchise as garbage overrated by pretentious fans. I can promise you that JJ Abrams won't have any outdated cringe Lucas dialogue or characters like Jar Jar. But your hipster hatred of the franchise just makes you hate and rage at the series no matter what.

Re: The Movie House - Part 5
I didn't say I wouldn't watch it. I said I wouldn't pay to watch it.
I do like JJ Abrams material a lot. Loved Lost and Fringe. Loved Star Trek. Person of Interest was definitely interesting.
- Spoiler:
- Actually maybe I did say I wouldn't watch it a long time ago before one of your smartarses pulls out an old quote. But if it gets 10/10 reviews I'll possibly check it out because I like JJ Abrams material a lot.
