Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Only watched Lion King for the first time earlier this year. I worshipped the book of it I had as a child though, and gotta say the movie just didn't do it for me.
Well not that it was bad. Everything was delightful, from the characters, the imagery and the songs, but the final third of it was kinda meh imo. Complete tonal change out of nowhere, and not on the same level as the rest of the movie.
Up and Spirited Away are probably my all time fav animations. The plan is to watch more Miyazaki in the future.

Lion King is something you have to see as a kid to have that nostalgic feeling whenever you talk about it. If I had seen it as an adult, I think I would have a similar reaction to yours.

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Anyways just came back from The Hateful Eight.
Classic Tarantino There's nothing to add that hasn't been said already. Every performance was amazing. Samuel L. Jackson and Walton Goggins in particular. It was like 2.5 hours long but it flew by so quick. Kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
9/10
Still behind Inglorious Basterds for me, but I think it's my second favorite Tarantino film all time.

Generally speaking the big budget Hindi movies sucks. Extremely poor actors like salman Khan is hit maker there and those people would rather produce the same bs movies to bring people's IQ down than try to make a productive movie for one. Look at Shah ruk Khan and his movie selection , he has never won a national award and rightly so... It's funny that main actors in Bollywood aren't even considered for awards. Ironic.
Kerala despite being a very small state has produced most national awards in scripts and acting. That's because our budget is so low (1 mill euro) so we are forced to produce good scripts and good acting. Instead of high budget action films here best scripts are valued.
Don't get me wrong, there are good movies in Bollywood too just like there are bad movies in Malayalam movies but the difference is bad movies in Hindi becomes box office hits while the good movies are hardly watched.
Unless the people develop their IQ Bollywood has no future
Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Any one wants to watch a indian psychological thriller I would recommend Manichithrathazhu (1990), it is a classic and one of the best movies I have seen imo.
Re: The Movie House - Part 6
That's the thing. Bollywood is by far the most popular amongst the Indian cinemas and Mollywood or Kollywood or etc barely get attention outside of the small demographic. For example as a child I was introduced to Bollywood and SRK films and I would be hard pressed to say bad about even his shittiest films And he doesn't have too many good films if I'm being objective, it's all romantic nonsense mostly.

I always thought SRK was a pretty good actor. Last movie I saw of his was My Name Is Khan like five years ago and even though the plot went full cringe by the end, I thought he did pretty great acting.

Seen that film
Thought it was a good anti-terrorism film with nice awareness about autism. But that actress was quite weird and i didn't understand half her problem with SRK.

Best male of course. Hillary Swank won for playing a boy once I think. Blanchett was also nominated for playing Bob Dylan or something

Re: The Movie House - Part 6
Samuel Jackson has to be one of the favorites for the best actor but I'm conflicted over his performance tbh
I'm not sure how I feel since he was basically playing himself rather than acting, I've seen his interviews and how he is in real life and it's basically like they inserted him into the movie, would totally believe it if they said there was no script involved
