I mean I get why they want to scale everything and give us comparisons but yeah if you're paying for a game and it falls below your standards of what a 'good' game is, it's a failure in your eyes.

If Terrible - Good - Buy it was an acceptable ranking system the world would be a better place imo

I don't really disagree or at least not completely, I just think it's stupid to use a ranking of 1-10 or even 1-100 if you actually use it like a 3 star rating and just seperate great, good and crap.
Btw when I rated movies on imdb I used a balanced (imo) system to rate the movies, so when I rated something 7 I actually though it was good and 8 meant it was really very good and I ended up being called a hater for not rating everything 9 or 10

7/10 is supposed to be good tbh. 6/10 is supposed to be slightly above average, 5 is average and 4 below average. Only way it makes sense imo 3 is bad, 2 and 1 are trash.
In reality rating games below 6 means they are trash. Movies it's probably one point less but it's still off IMO. Most people don't use the whole scale. Why use 1-10 if half of the scale basically means crap?

Apart from that no mans sky is crap and likely even scam. Trash game, deserves 0/10 (haven't played it yet obviously).

Above average is basically good in my book though. I was stating metacritic's definition of a good score. Seems weird that the criteria is different for games.

Yeah you can call above average good if you want to. It's kind of semantics I guess. I don't know why the criteria is different tbh. Maybe there is no real reason and it just happens by chance. I don't know if it's actually true because I don't really follow music critics but I always had the feeling that they rate lower than movie/games critics. Had the feeling I've seen tons of 1/5 or even 0.5/5 but as said I don't know if that's representative of the music rating business in general.

1/5 is normal in everything but games. Game reviewers are paid off so I don't value their opinions at all.

IGN didn't give a single COD game 10/10 even though the internet keeps on raging that they give all CODs 10/10.

Tbf from the online perspective I.E the only perspective that matters, first 2 MW games and WAW were the bench mark for FPS games and still are imo. But yeah game reviewers are not to be trusted alone. If critics and fans alike agree more or less then it's fair enough but wouldn't be surprising to see the next COD get at least an 8 despite the fans I.E the people it's aimed at mostly raging at the futuristic bullshit.

If you can't be comparable to Minecraft than don't enter the genre let alone charge a AAA price.

Review scores last gen were extremely overinflated, if the game was even somewhat hyped it would get a 90+ metacritic. This gen has settled a bit, with shitty AAA games getting taken to task, though some games are still getting questionable scores, it is better though. No Mans Skys metacritic is currently sitting at 71, if it had released last gen it would have been a 91 at the very least.

EA have had a change of heart when it comes to remasters, saying that people clearly want them. ( they must be selling well for them to say that)
