If Arsenal had signed Janssen & Wanyama, we all know there would be a vocal contingent complaining that those two aren't good enough, Arsenal have no ambition, #WengerOut, etc.
Better than where we are atm.
And lets not forget that we have desperately been in need of a holding midfielder to backup Coquelin - Elneny and Xhaka are just alternatives and not like for like options, though they do attenuate the need for a signing in the center of the pitch.

His Twitter feed lists "Tribal Football columnist," so that's probably all we need to know.

Bacca would be such a great, cost-efficient signing. Can't imagine he'd cost much more than £25-30m. In this market, for a finisher like him, that's a bargain.

I see this as the most realistic option this summer. I dunno, I have been having this feeling all summer about Draxler.

ARSENAL KEEN ON HIGUAIN
Arsenal are interested in signing Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, according to Sky sources.
Sky in Italy has reported that no offer has been forthcoming from the Gunners, but say "intermediaries" have been in contact with the Argentina striker's brother who acts as his agent.
Higuain - top scorer in Serie A last season with 36 goals - would cost Arsenal a club record fee. That has led to speculation in Italy that Giroud may be used as part of a player-plus-cash deal.

I am sure Wenger is laughing whenever Sky makes up their bullshit rumours, 98% made up.
Wenger turned down 35m few years back, and now he is going spend double that?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
A few years back, the problem was Real asking for more after a deal had been negotiated in principle for 35m. That was related to windfall Napoli received from selling Cavani, most of which they redirected towards securing Higuain. And I see nothing wrong in saying no to a deal where the goal posts are moved.
Let's not twist facts just to bitch about old man Wenger for the sake of it.

I don't see us dropping anything north of 50m Pounds on Higuain - and that would be way off the release clause of 94m€ that Napoli have no reason to budge from.
Also, the whole Giroud swap thing is BS. We are too risk averse to sell our only striker. Ideally, we keep Giroud and bring in Higuain.
If we do sell Giroud (who should be worth about 50m€ in today's market after a largely decent showing at the Euros). then I do hope that we wrap up a deal for Draxler + Higuain. Anything else and we'd end the season again 1 player short of any success.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I say this with the wonderful benefit of hindsight but when you look at the prices for any half-decent striker now Arsenal not spending the extra 10mil to get Higuain was a huge mistake. Doubly so because they did it out of "principle" and not because of limited finances.
Even now, there's nothing stopping Arsenal from spending £80mil or whatever to get him if they wanted to. And to be honest, from a fianncial point of view there aren't many reasons why they shouldn't do it. They're not going to have trouble making up the money anymore, and they can still buy other players afterwards (helped by selling some of our current players).
There might be other reasons not do it (maybe they believe he'll decline soon, or that he wouldn't settle, things like that) but right now "he's too expensive" is a incresingly poor excuse in the absence of cheaper alternatives (who have all already been signed by other clubs ).

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
That's the thing, I don't think you will be able to get Higuain for the kind of fee Wenger is prepared to pay.
Napoli can easily insist on 75m £, and I really don't think Wenger would pay it.
Because think about it.
He wasn't prepared to pay the 10 more million it took back then, and correspondingly he is not going to be willing to spend the 20m more (on top of what Wenger would see as acceptable, let's say 60m €) that it will take now.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Completely agree with you, Jay. Hindsight is wonderful, though, isn't it?
He wasn't prepared to spend more so as to not forsake his principles.
That said, I think if 75m is what Higuain is worth, then I think Wenger would be willing to spend that.
The more the summer progresses, the worse it feels about Vardy rejecting us.

Are these quoted price tags for Higgy taking in to consideration the striker wants to leave?
