I don't know who Miguel Delaney is other than he works for ESPN, Sunday Independent, etc... but his tweet isn't old. It's from 28 mins ago. He says that Juve pay the tax. Not sure what he means by "tax". All sorts of confusing English today Laughing

Ah ok... so i dug into the responses to his tweet and he clarified: £95 mil to Juve and £20 to Raiola all paid by Man U. So a total of £115 mil pounds shelled out for the transfer fee part by Man U.

Pogba's wage is interesting too. He got 13 mil net as has been widely reported. But he also got 50% of his image rights (Man U usually keeps 100%) in order for Pogba to waive some kind of add-on he was due. That's estimated at 7 mil. So his annual wages will be 13 mil net + another 7 mil gross. Wow.

You don't pay 150m for a Yaya Toure or Vieira. You pay that for a Ronaldo, a Neymar, a Suarez. And I doubt he'll ever be the force of nature Vieira was in his prime.

That's kind of not true. Vieira's main role was defense when he went to Arsenal and that's what he honed. But at Cannes, he was asked to carry the ball into the attack. He played there until he was 20. In fact, the question mark was his defense back then because he made so many deep attacking runs that he was often out position getting back or just didn't have the legs to defend. Sound familiar?

Pogba can play whatever CM role you ask of him. He's more comfortable as an attacking type B2B today because that's what he played for the past 3 years at Juve. But give him time and allow him to concentrate/hone his game on defense and play lower... he'll be great there too. He doesn't lack a single thing in his game not to.

Yaya Toure is a prime example of that in reverse. He played DM and then converted to an attacking player because that's what City asked of him.

So interesting. There is a transfer tax apparently. So according to The Independent, Man U are paying £92 mil to Juve for the player and also paying Raiola. However, due to the tax, Juve are going to announce a sale of something less than that. The Daily Fail says that the fee to Juve after they pay taxes is £84.3 mil. But who the heck knows.

We'll wait for Di Marzio and the BBC and the Manchester Evening News to give details before believing anything.

For a player who has already proved his worth , this amount is alright. But for the sake of possible superstar , this much is too much IMO.

80 m for Martial is another example.

But as sportsczy once said , there is an option to sell these players if they don't perform in next 2-3 years and get back some amount as they are young.

The fees have been worked out between Juventus and Manchester United for Paul Pogba. Pogba, who will move to the Premier League will now the player linked to the highest transfer fee of all time, about €110m. The fee to Juventus will be slightly lower than the amount reported in the last few days, as Pogba's agent Raiola's fees had to be taken into account as well. Juventus' receipt should net slightly over €100m, representing a huge payday for the Italian club who landed Pogba from United four years ago for nothing. As for Raiola's commission, that will be paid by United. All together, the gross amount of the transfer is €110m, higher than that paid for any transfer before, with final details of all the fees to be released in a few hours with a release issued by Juventus.

So it will be around £84M net as you say after taxes which is around €101M...

Why are they mentioning taxes? 1st time I have heard of taxes during a transfer unless its a Bilbao/La Liga transfer where a player buys out his contract.

Wouldn't taxes be paid regardless assuming Juve made a profit during the operating year hmm

Not sure if that has always existed but never mentioned before... no idea. But it's separate from income and/or capital gains tax. It's an additional one apparently that is collected immediately (not sure by which country either lol).
