The market is going crazy also because some rich owner don't care about losing money.

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
It has nothing to do with rich owners... and these clubs are definitely not losing money. The revenue generated by football has exploded in the EPL with the new media deal... not only are all the clubs getting 100s of million of extra euros per season (yes 100s)... because international/domestic media are paying so much for the media rights, they are pimping the league like crazy because they need to recover their investment. That extra exposure adds even more revenue to the clubs because all the image rights revenue is exploding. Also, they are now so popular overseas that they are raking in a boatload of money in exhibition games because the media is pushing them to their viewers.
The same thing happened to the NFL in the US. It's a domino effect.
The rest of Europe is at an extreme disadvantage now.

It's very strange stuff. You have these parrots in this thread that keep repeating the same old drivel over and over. The EPl has stupendous amounts of cash. United spent more money on other players relative to turnover
People need to really get over it. A player is worth what a club is willing to pay and what the club is willing sell them for. That is it. All this emotional nonsense of he's not worth this and that.
How can anyone fault Pogba for leaving as well after seeing the money he would be getting? Maybe I'm too old or most of the people in this thread are unemployed. He is getting almost 4 times more money...

You might be right but I'm curious to see the numbers. How much profit do they actually make ? When a club overpay for a player or if that play turn out to be a flop ( Torres at Chelsea for 50 millions) where does that club recoup that money ?
I mean at the rate some clubs spend I don't see how they could make profit.

Bottom team gets 97m lmao.
The disparity is hilariously bad though, to give you some idea we are being called the man city of the championship

You get parachute payment too which is like 200m or something iirc. If you don't win the championship with over 90 points then i'll be disappointed

Yeah, well that £97M was equivalent to €150M+ last year, now it's just under €115M. Speaking about this, is this the reason why PL clubs have been less active than they usually are ? Are they waiting for the pound to regain strength over the Euro ? Or could this be possible in a short space of time ? Only 30 days left for the window to close

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
Wow. Last time I checked(a month ago), £1 = €1.27,
Now it has dropped further. £1 = €1.18.
Last year £1 = €1.41.
Not that big of an advantage for EPL as originally estimated.

I highly doubt the pound gains on the euro anytime soon. Considering it's southerly trajectory I would estimate that the pound could be at par with the euro by year's end.

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
Photo: Paul Pogba ready to board flight to mystery destination amid Man Utd link...
Paul Pogba’s mind is very much on football despite contuining uncertainty surrounding the midfielder’s Juventus future as he got ready to board a delayed flight on Monday night.
The France international is still being linked with a world-record move to Manchester United despite his agent advising supporters to ignore the English and Italian media over the weekend.
Pogba has only served to fuel speculation with a series of cryptic Instagram update which have left Juventus and United fans puzzled as to the midfielder’s plans in the summer transfer window.
The four-time Serie A winner has been holidaying in Miami since France suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 extra-time defeat by Portugal in the European championship final.
And Pogba, who moved to Juventus in an £800,000 move from United in 2012, posted his latest Instagram update on Monday night as the 23-year-old waited for a delayed flight...
Pogba posted the above snap and wrote on the photo-sharing app:
“flight delay, thinking of football #holidays #footballislife”

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
Euro is the currency in danger actually. The fundamentals backing the Pound Sterling are solid and reliable. They just adjusted for anticipated loss of broad economic revenue as a result of Brexit... but that loss may never become realized and it will go right back up. The Euro, however, faces massive political and economic risk from members that are fairing worse and worse (France being the large one). High unemployment, stagnating growth and incompatible fiscal policies are pervasive. Right now, the force of Germany is keeping the Euro stable (relatively) and pushing down interest rates. But it's unsustainable and everyone knows it. Investment is about choosing between alternatives. Eventually, there will be less risky and better yielding alternatives to the Euro and European sovereign debt. When that happens, hell will break loose.

Re: Build Up: Pogba to United
Wenger on GLmania thread and GL posters' claim that Pogba deal is crazy:
"It is completely crazy if you cannot afford to pay it. If you can afford to pay it you can justify it.
"It is completely crazy if you compare it to normal life. That is for sure. But we live in a world where every activity that is worldwide makes a lot of money.
"Football has become a worldwide competition and that is why clubs can afford to do it. Does it make sense in the way the player can give you that investment back? Nobody ever could calculate.
"Since I am in this sport I always thought the record cannot go higher and I was always wrong. Maybe in a few years it will be 200, 300 [million], who knows
Wenger on Hans's claim that he has lost an eye for talent:[/b
"I buy players that I feel can strengthen our team. Today you have to be very strong inside the club when you are responsible, not just to buy [for the sake of buying].
Wenger on RG spamming emails to him about new signings:
"There's always a wave of opinions. I must say people are better informed today -- they know all the players. They tell you always that you should buy but when you ask them who to buy, they become much shorter."
Wenger on Sri and Urban's claim that he a is old miser:
"If you look at the market in Europe, there's a lot of money available but not many players who really strengthen the teams. If you look at the teams that spend the most money in Europe, they're not necessarily the teams that won the championships. The global investment of the clubs around us didn't stop Leicester winning the championship."[/b]

For a transfer that was "all but done", it bothers me that it still hasn't been officially completed in the past 23 days ffs.

So Pogba's mysterious flight must have landed somewhere by now. Allegri said he would be meeting up with Marotta today to talk about the transfer market. So did Pogba fly to Manchester or Torino?

calma
Italian Journos have been saying there could be an announcement this Thursday but it's more likely there won't be one before the 12th of August for w/e reason. It's the biggest deal in football history, so you faux football agents and accountants need to relax and just wait.
