Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Rodgers could also bring back Kolo Toure as part of his defensive coaching staff. AND he's introduce a David Brent-esque dimension to the club management, which would be entertaining & novel, at least.
Call Stan and Ivan. Let's do it.

Sturridge too
tbf Rodgers came closer to winning the title in 13/14 than Arsene came in the last decade

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
-----------Cech
Belle-Kos----Mustafi--Gibbs
-------Xhaka--Santi
----------Özil
Ox------Alexis---Insigne
Pretty tasty but hinges on Santi being fit or us signing a premium CM to partner Xhaka. Also wondering whether the Ox's future really is at CM. He's played so well there but Wenger's flirted with the idea in the past and let it die at the first sight of poor form so it'll be interesting to see how Wenger develops Ox for the next 9 years.
Isco is still out there. Just saying.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
The possibility of Wenger staying (and--this is important--how he & Arsenal finish the season), versus the many possibilities of a new manager coming in, make it really difficult to produce educated guesses about what our squad could look like next season.
Best case, we will see a Conte-at-Chelsea-esque revitalization of the squad, and with some new blood and fresh tactics, get a lot of players (even ones who are frustrating fans now e.g. Mustafi or Coquelin) returning to peak form. A worse possibility is that we'll lose top talent, be unable to recruit replacements anywhere near sufficient, and suffer a Moyes-at-Man-Utd sort of identity crisis.
What formation(s) will line up next season? Which players we might rely on now will be shipped off?

We don't sign the best talents anymore, I'm sure Grimandi is scouting someone in Ligue 2 for Wenger to sign.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
You're probably not that far from the truth. Stories like this all come out at the same time to put a bit of panic into the fans so they'll ease off on the pressure. Just as you see a bunch of transfer stories about warchests around the time season tickets need renewing
If they're actually true, then it says a lot about the players. Not loyal to the club, but to the manager. Yet they reward that loyalty with god awful performances.
Losing Bellerin, Ozil and Alexis would be a huge dent in squad quality, but at the same time if they don't want to play for Arsenal it's no good keeping them around.

Pretty much. I don't know how we moved on from players playing for the club to playing for the manager.
Not that they are doing a good job playing for the manager either with those awful performances.
It will be a massive blow for sure but might as well rebuild properly. Whoever wants to leave can leave.
Bellerin, Sanchez and Ozil will easily get us over 100m. Enough money for Allegri to buy his players.
Although I don't think Bellerin is leaving. Not yet anyways. Probably when Barca are back being the best. And One of Sanchez and Ozil will stay. Both probably won't leave at the same time.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Bellerin will stay whether it's Wenger or someone else. There is just no chance that we will sell him. Zero.
I'm not scared of losing Alexis and Özil if Wenger leaves. What is there to lose... 2 FA Cups in 4 years and constant embarrassment against big teams? I'll take my chances with a new team and a new manager.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
May be players are more inclined towards Arsene becasue they know they will always start irrespective of the performance they put in week in week out with Wenger around. That might not be the case with with the new managers.

Only Alexis will leave if anyone leaves imo.
Arsenal are too strong financially to even think of a firesale like the scenario mentioned above.

Mbappe and Tolisso are needed. Tolisso would be the box to box player we have been aching for.
He would compliment Xhaka very well, who honestly has all the talent in the world to be a world class player, just needs to get his head tightened a bit.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
With a Santi successor something we've all discussed and Cech's patchy form leading to some questioning his place (I still think he's a great keeper but one who's declined), I'm curious as to how you guys feel about Wilshere and Szczesny's futures at the club.
They seem to have both done well on loan although there are question marks (fitness and concentration to name one for each). But they seem to be ready made products returning.
