Btw the guys its October ie Horror month.

Annabelle: 5/10

They could have absolutely ruined everyone with that doll, That doll is one ugly thing but the ending was very shite.

The Ring: 5.5/10

Nice concept, Beautiful background and a story, Decent ending. Not too scary unfortunately.

Nightmare at Elm's street 1984: 5/10

Damn they made a lot of gore then.

Drama, Music?

Yes, those are the main genres. It also has fantasic dry comedy rofl
But it's more than that, it's so existentially deep, realistic and the writing and technical aspects are glorious as expected from Coen bros.

Highly recommended RG. Brilliant film.

Memories of Murder (2003)

Outstanding film. Korean 'Zodiac'. In fact I am confident Fincher saw this and was inspired to make Zodiac (although both are quite different).

The 2nd half of this film had me on the ropes. Really powerful narrative and emotionally gripping.

And then the final scene...

Just like Zodiac, this is open to interpretation with no closure (Both films are based on true events taking place in USA and Korea respectively. Both cases still unsolved)

8.7/10

I don't know McEggz.
The reviews for The Girl on the Train aren't that good (from the few that I've seen so far).
I won't go this weekend just to see how more people respond to it.

A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)

I don't know what to say. It's a film that left me speechless at the end.

Masterpiece. Highly recommended.

1st half is extremely slow though but I didn't mind one bit. When everything comes together at the end...you just sit there and evaluate your life.

9/10

Has their been any Horror movie that has actually scared you guys?

I always felt Paranormal activity 1 had the biggest base among all these.

a) Because you can't see the entity ever.
b) Great storyline
c) No survivors.
d) Its on CCTV's. ( Not necessary but the most realistic )

I would not count the rest of the PA series, Because they got worse and worse showing the stuff that i'd mentioned below.

The moment there is incessant gore or you see a "demon" or one chick survives, It ruins the purpose of it being scary. The CGI sucks everywhere as well.

Gore does nothing to me if it's overdone.

Drive uses it well, Pan's Labyrinth the same. Small doses can be effective.

Yeah I agree about Babadook.

It was very unsettling.

I just don't enjoy the horror genre very much. Story and plot is probably number 1 thing for me in terms of enjoyment. Horror movies are very meh in this regard. And I suppose the main reason people watch horror movies is to get scared, well supernatural stuff, gory stuff, jump scenes literally does zero to scare me and literally 99% of the genre uses these.

I like creepy, unsettling horrors. Babadook was one of them.

Some psychological thrillers do the job of making me uneasy more than horror films.
