There is a bit of simulating, but he was "attacked" from the back, probably the effect of surprise makes him go down like this.
Cataldi deserved to be sent off no matter what, the simulation did not mislead the ref into taking the wrong decision.

Any ways, it's only good news for Juve What a Face

Looks kind of like the guy who grabbed his shirt scratched him.

Kevin Strootman's ban has been removed. He will be available for Roma against Milan.

Unbelievable

That furrow-browed frowning f*ck gets a free pass from a 2 game ban

Completely believable. The law states that for simulation the act has to be completely without any intervention by another player. The pulling of the shirt by Cataldi, prior to the alleged simulation, cannot be excluded as a contributing factor.

"“la norma federale in questione pretende che la simulazione abbia il carattere dell’evidenza, nel senso che la condotta simulatoria del calciatore non sia stata, in alcun modo, determinata dal comportamento di un avversario. Nel caso che ci occupa, non può, invece, escludersi che sulla caduta a terra del calciatore Strootman abbia inciso la condotta del calciatore Cataldi consistita nella trattenuta della maglia del primo, "

The water throwing wasn't under consideration. There isn't a rule against it. In fact, water is thrown on players by other players when they are hot, on an injury, bottles are thrown and caught between players etc. It was whether Strootman simulated after being pulled back.

Ah yes, Strootman scored and in the midst of his celebration looked over and saw Cataldi on the bench and decided he needed to cool off with a refreshing spray from his water bottle.

Class act

Was Stroots an asshole for provoking Cataldi? Yes, this is undisputed. Did he deserve his ban for going down after Cataldi grabbed him by the collar? No.

Personally, while I'm grateful we'll have him for 2 key matches, I think we would've been prepared if he was out since that type of stuff tends to happen to us anyway right before key matches. Either way, he did what true Roma players do in the derby.....wind up Lazio players. Just happened to do it both on and off the pitch.

It was not a class act, but throwing a few drops of water on another player is not an bannable offense, that's the point.

Agreed. It was obviously provocation and banter but a ban would be too much. Cataldi reacted and that's his fault

Samp - Lazio the only worthwhile fixture today

Juve-Torino tomorrow, Juve been unlucky post-CL weeks, Sinisa has a terrible record against Juve iirc

Inter - Genoa will be a crazy match, they've already beaten Milan and Juve

Roma - Milan on monday, Stroots is back, Peres and Salah out for Roma, Bacca and Bonaventura out for Milan. Roma should walk away from this winners

Dybala will start from the bench though, he doesn't have 90min in him yet. Its expected to be a 4-3-1-2 with Pjanic behind the two CFs. Its the only system that has allowed Higuain-Mandzukic to work well in the absence of Dybala. Should be the same lineup as vs Atalanta.

Buffon; Sandro, Chiellini, Rugani, Litchsteiner; Sturaro, Marchisio, Khedira; Pjanic; Mandzukic, Higuain

breva is right, we always play bad after CL games. This should be an exception though because the derby gets everyone pumped.

Dominated Torino and wasting 4 clear cut chances.. Of course we have to concede after that.

Good match so far, intense

Sturaro is useless every time he plays tho
