Hugely overrated, and spelled "Kia", both of those, yes.

Think his Özilian "body language" will make him a target in the English public in no time

Re: Kia Havertz Watch - Next Marko Marin?
He'd been pocketed without problem from Inter defence (despite a goal, a bit randomic) on that Europa League knock-out. Anyway I remember same thing for Hazard in Lille times and that is the best omen possible for a Chelsea fan

Re: Kia Havertz Watch - Next Marko Marin?
Shouldn't read much into the game, but it was a very disappointing debut from him ngl. I get it that it was still a debut and that he was out of position, but part of the appeal of his signing was that he's supposed to be able to play everywhere upfront.
James's performance in a very similar circumstance was absolutely brilliant for example. The Everton players did play through him a lot though, which wasn't the case with Kai. And Brighton is possibly a harder opponent that Spurs right now.

Re: Kia Havertz Watch - Next Marko Marin?
Those are two very different players, Katy.
James is proven playmaker whereas Kai cannot have a team built around himself per say given he is more a multi-purpose player, despite his general impressive vision.
I feel Lampard may use that versatility of his to his advantage but possibly the detriment of Havertz? How? Some managers abuse a players versatility for their tactics and leave the player with little identity.
Either way looking as bad as he did is not a bad sign for never have I seen him perform this badly. Just clearly overawed by the occasion.

I also never found Havertz to be all that great on the wings, did all of his best work in the center, for ages now...

Re: Kia Havertz Watch - Next Marko Marin?
Apparently Lampard wants him to "Get used to the PL" in the wings and then move him to the center
How did this fraud finish 3rd?

That sounds blatantly insane, what even is the logic behind that?

I would just sit still, wait long enough and watch how Havertz will be a great player for Chelsea for years to come

Was he on the wings again versus Liverpool, or did he get to play his position?

not only is he flopping hard out there, but it constantly looks like he is in need of a bloody meat steak and he can't take any sunlight

Re: Kia Havertz Watch - Next Marko Marin?
This is the risk of signing young players who are specialist in their roles and have complete freedom in their previous clubs. They go to bigger clubs where 1) that freedom doesn’t exist 2) there is competition, 3) they don’t necessarily play the same role/position and they struggle. Very similar to Joao Felix

I don't get why top teams would sign these 9.5's knowing fully well they are really only at their best behind the CF, and you don't get half the impact from them by playing them as wingers or CM's.
It's mind boggling.

Bosz played Havertz as CM along with Brandt and it was Havertz breakout season.
The position argument is misleading. The right argument is role and expectations.
Havertz wasn't ready to be main man at a big club and he isn't the player to give the impression he's running things, which was always going to hurt him in an England that never understood what was Özil about even after season on season of top chance creation.
He should have joined Bayern next summer as Müller understudy. That would have been best.
