WWE keeps quiet about his status that week, building mystery on whether he'll make it or not. At Mania, you have AJ come out to the ring and wait for his opponent. Shane comes out from behind the curtain, not with his music running, but with a mic in hand. He states that he has not been cleared for their match, but has gotten himself a replacement. He then lowers the mic, steps off to the side, and then... violins start playing. Oh yes! As his replacement, Shane McMahon has called up Shinsuke Nakamura! You want a Wrestlemania moment? There's one for you for free WWE.'

I don't even want it either, Nakamura and Styles deserves to be built up and not thrown together at the last minute just because people don't want to watch Shane wrestle.

Same reason why Styles shouldn't be in the title match, he's the best wrestler in the company by a considerable distance but it just doesn't make storyline sense.

Despite WWE trying to convince people otherwise WM isn't the be all and end all, Styles and others will be back in programs we enjoy after WM and likely the rest of the year.

It's a shame WM is such an irrelevance these days but it is what is, Vince considers Shane a draw and that's about all there is to it.

We may not like it but it's actually a positive sign for Styles, look at the people who have had matches with Shane and pretty much all of them are HOFs ( apart from maybe Steve Blackman lol) so it clearly shows Vince likes him a lot.

Vince considers Shane is a draw, well Shane is a draw tbh. His return directly correlated with a surge of ticket sales for last year's WM. Even for Survivor Series they replaced Corbin with him because he is a proven draw.
