didn't watch him much at Juve besides in the CL where he was decent, but heard he was hit and miss in the league

still one of the better RB's out there and will know Pep's style well so yeah, not surprising

I think they are. City want at least 2 RB and LB. They got Alves and it seems Walker. They're looking at Mendy, Grimaldo and Bertrand at least 2 of those 3 for LB.

They want Mendy. Pep wants a LB who can also play CB, ala Abidal. It seems like his RB will be an overlapping one judging by the Alves and Walker links.

Alves is a good signing. He'll add leadership and experience to a young team.

They were until they start nickle and diming Monaco.

With Monaco it's pretty much about hitting their price. If you don't, they won't sell. So if Liverpool is willing to meet the price demand and Mendy is ok with it, he goes there. If nobody meets the price, Mendy stays another season at Monaco (which he's ok with too apparently).

Monaco holds all the leverage.

Isn't Kolarov staying? He used to be quick & is good on the ball & can play CB. I think Kolarov & Alves will be back-up FB's & Mendy/Walker etc will be starting FB's.
