problem going forward with these absurd prices is that there will be cases where the player turns out to be either a fraud or just doesn't end up being an 80m as the club valued him. So what does a club do in that case?

Ask for their money back? no one will buy martial for 80m. Eventhough I still rate him highly.

This will become more and more common with more players going for higher prices.

this was my prediction last summer that the market would regulate itself and some of those crazy transfers would stop. Clubs are just not gonna find alternatives to their targets if the valuation is crazy.

The good side of this is that some clubs will retain certain players for one extra year. Look at Milinkovic Savic, no club is gonna spend 100+ mil on that guy, even if he is highly rated by scouts in europe.

In the case of Martial, his agent has to continue forcing a transfer out, given that he has a year left on his team, United might be forced to lower their valuation. I read that there is a clause in his contract to extend for one more year, but we will see, they still havent picked it up.

The issue United is facing is that they don't want to sell, they certainly don't want to sell to another English club and no club outside of England has offered them a lifeline

what's complicated here is that he has a clause in his contract that United can unilaterally add one year to his contract. they do this shit to all their players.

Jamie Jackson wrote a few days ago that United would consider selling but outside of the EPL, with bidding price starting at £50m, which is waymore in line with current market deals.

Wont lie, given how dry the market is with CF, i would gamble on this melt. 60 mil euros is not that bad and he is young enough to still have resell value close to 30-40 if he is decent.

I think the club has an option for 1 more year with Martial... so it's 2 years left. However, the valuation drops dramatically next summer. So they need to move him this summer if money received is the target.

Other thing is that he doesn't want to be at Man U. Neither does Pogba for that matter... but that's another story that will evolve once he returns.

Given that the Premier League's window closes August 9, it is a day by day thing now

Real Madrid have made Chelsea an offer of £100million for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and midfielder Willian, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

Courtois has just one year remaining on his contract and has openly admitted his desire to move back to Spain while Willian was linked with Barcelona until they were put off by Chelsea’s £70m price tag.

Martial's mentality has always been a question mark... from his Lyon days. Known to be a diva. So keeping him and asking him to be effective as a rotation players is doomed for failure. That's the biggest thing. He's not that great a pro.
