honestly what's even out there when it comes to strikers?

Erling Braut Haaland has scored more league goals than Manchester United in 2020 (5-4). Haaland has played 57 minutes. United have played 360.

You sold 31-year old, Fellaini for half of Haaland’s buyout clause. I like to think that Haaland turned Man United down, rather than United being cheap.

I'm sure I read that when you factored in wages, agent fees and bonuses Haaland's bargain price actually came to like 60+ million

big money for a kid that may not have any resell value and isnt already an established forward

Dortmund's the right move for his career anyway, so it would be smart *if* he did reject us

I don't think we'll end up signing a forward tbh

Here is the tweet front the times, you hate to see stupidity like this...or you love it rofl dumbass club. The only thing I misread is every 5 starts

€1 million for every five starts he makes (up to 25) & €5 million if Utd qualify once for the CL in the next 5 years —  the full numbers and add-ons in Bruno Fernandes' move to #MUFC here (w/@_pauljoyce):

sounds reasonable *shrug* 5m euros for 25 starts, fine with it. CL qualification bonus? the norm. So we'll end up paying 55M pounds for him after a season. The other bonuses are for things like winning the balon, CL I think. Unlikely.

That means they get 1 million per 5 starts, up to 5 million (25 starts)

Nothing like you wrote "a million per start up to 25m".

wouldn't talk of "stupidity" in a post like that tbh

Bruno Fernandes has agreed a four-and-a-half year contract with the option of an extra year. He will earn around £70,000 per-week plus bonuses. #mufc [Guardian]

sensible money. Lad wanted us the most. Been angling for a move here for the last 12 months.

Genuine question, why are you and other Serie A followers calling him a flop? is it just for the sake of clowning Man U/ EPL? Laughing He was a starter in his first season at age 19, which is impressive considering how conservative Italian coaches are. He seems to have been an integral part of every team he played for.

There is really nothing unusual about his career trajectory. hmm

That's just looking at wikipedia. "Flop" is too much, but there is everything unusual about his trajectory.

This is a player that was thoroughly uninteresting. No one would have looked at Giampaolo's Sampdoria and told you that Bruno would have been a 70m player. It's crazy to suggest that he looked like having that trajectory in 2016.

This is how unusual his trajectory is: as a 22yo he left Samp for 8m or so, there were 3 other Samp young players that left for more money than Bruno in the same window. He was NOT rated as a super talent back then, not even close, he was moved for cheap after 1 season at Samp.

Skriniar, Schick and Muriel all left for much more money in the first season. A season before another 4 players left Samp for money, a season after another 3 players did. Torreira, his fellow midfielder, left with hype for 3 times the money.

We saw him for 3 years and no one in Serie A had a "future top player" by the end of it.

Giampaolo's a Serie A flop himself so why would we trust him to know a good player if he sees one

Is every player supposed to show world-class talent in their first 3 seasons of professional football? there is a long list of elite footballers who spent the first few years of their careers playing in lower divisions or sitting on the bench. At his age, Aubameyang wasn't even deemed worthy of being loaned to another Serie A team. Laughing

That wasnt the conversation though. Its is absolutely unusual for a player that isn't rated highly to be sold for 80m 3 years later.

Not saying he cant be good now, just saying that denying that it's an unusual trajectory is strange.

Me following Serie A does not automatically equate to me having an agenda towards Premier League, you know, to which has a team I fully support, let alone supporting a league itself.

The answer is simple. From Novara to Udinese to Sampdoria, he simply was not very good.

At all. Just an average player.

Hans answered it for me anyway.

But it's not though Laughing A good % of players who end up joining top clubs at age 24/25 had slow starts to their careers. Who rated Nicolas Pépé 3 years ago? Or Ferland Mendy? the examples are endless. We wouldn't even be having this conversation had he played at Setubal and Boavista instead of Udinese and Sampdoria.

You guys are acting as if he was this perennial jobber that is commanding top money all of a sudden. The kid was a developing U-21 talent in Italy and he simply reached his potential at Sporting.
