It's a computer revolution, not seen in a long time. Finally after using Intel 2500k almost a decade, I can finally upgrade the cpu, motherboard and memory. Proud

Think what Dany means is that console annoucements will dictate how much PC will be allowed to move forward and waiting to see what they are will give you a better idea of what to expect.

Indeed.

You can get higher resolutions and frame rates on PC but that has got more to do with your GPU than CPU. Once you get the CPU as good as the console you're pretty much guaranteed to play every console title for the generation with no need to upgrade.

Having said that I don't think @Harmonica is interested in games that are available to consoles. He's more of an indie PC RPG guy.

Somewhat true, but I'm interested in CPU gaming performance too. As most old games are CPU bound, like Morrowind for example. With new shaders and distant land, one core will always hit 100% when others and GPU are slacking. And it seems that it may finally be the time when upgrade performance/value is justified.

Easily, I could crank up settings so high, that in some modded cities I get 10 fps or so. Morrowind engine was never designed for epic sized modded cities, modern shaders nor distant land. So it starts to choke when using all of those. OpenMW will probably eventually change this, but it hasn't yet. So games like Morrowind still greatly benefit from something like single core CPU performance.

Beamdog already made Siege of Dragonspear, which is amazing, and seamlessly integrated between existing games, making it still feel fresh. Baldur's Gate has always been a series game, that you play from BG1 to ToB. And now they plan to make separate game with different rules? They are just using Baldur's Gate name to market it, that's my feel. Streamlined, completely different game might interest casual gamers of today, but not hardcore fans of the series.

Detroit Become Human was unexpectedly geat. Beyond Two Souls left a sour taste on my mouth. Game was drab despite Page and Dafoe's great performances but Detroit exceeded my expectations. The graphics are beautiful obviously but the storyline is really well done. I'm gonna replay it from the middle because they actually have a lot of drastically different paths and endings. My major complaint is that there is a plot twist near the end which completely killed my interest in a certain storyline and character.

Of course developers are to blame. And boys who see cutscene demos calling them "amazing", and pre-order games without even seeing any gameplay footage. Such a rotten practice.
