"After the title-winning year, if I was in a top team, it would not have been the same story," he told France Football.
"For me, it is clear that I lost two years at the very highest level. I lost two years!

"My agent had talked with [Arsene] Wenger who really wanted to sign me, it was almost done with Arsenal in the summer of 2016...I was really frustrated.
"It's not easy to go from being the PFA Players' Player of the Year to being part of a team fighting for Premier League survival. It's not the same job.
"Everyone is waiting on you and expects you to perform."

Not really, we were 5th last season and in the EL final. Now we are in a relegation battle.

So after the last loss, lots of manager names were mentioned and rumored and yet now one day prior to match day, things seem quiet again. If we go into Xmas with Freddie, we're doomed.

The season is over. We just need to stay focus and not get relegated.

Both Adama or Allan Saint-Maximin would be great if they can sort their end product out. Latter better buy though.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Aubameyang one of many players looking to leave, reports the Independent.
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/arsenal-news-mikel-arteta-manager-aubameyang-transfer-latest-a9253511.html?utm_source=reddit.com
- Aubameyang wants to join a club that can immediately compete for trophies; isn't so interested in a medium-term project
- Lacazette, Ozil and Xhaka also questioning their futures
- "Half the squad" are said to be questioning their futures due to a "lack of direction" at the club
- Both Ljungberg and the upper management have been taken aback at how poor the reaction has been post-Emery sacking, which could lead to a summer clear out
- Ljungberg apparently told them that most of the players don't care and probably won't until a permanent appointment is made
- Finances will be limited again due to lack of CL football
Is there a button that'll reset Arsenal to factory settings?
Easy to point fingers at certain individuals for all these problems, but it's all a clusterfuck. The players have been promised certain things which they're no longer going to get and now a 37-year-old rookie is going to manage them, so no surprises a few of them are having doubts. At the same time, they're partly responsible for the mess the club is in.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arteta today:
- Chambers injury changes transfer plans
- Xhaka and Aubameyang aren't leaving
- Will be in market, but "won't be able to do much"
Telegraph has linked Arsenal with Rugani (the chosen one from 2014), Ake (the chosen one from Chelsea) and Upamecano (the chosen one from last summer).
Nketiah has been recalled from his loan at Leeds and will go out on loan again, probably to the Championship.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
From what I could gather, Nketiah is a pure poacher and that's why Bielsa couldn't integrate him in his system and only could bring him for 20 odd minutes. Which makes sense i guess
I think Nketiah might face the same issue as Afobe and Akpom did. Great poachers but limited. Not to say it can't work at Arsenal but largely depends on Arteta.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ornstein on one of the Athletic's podcasts has said Arsenal are looking to sell/loan up to 12 players, though he doesn't know about permanent moves yet.
Nketiah has his choice of Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday. Smith Rowe will also go on loan provided he's fit and the offer is right.
Mustafi wasn't involved on Monday, so maybe he'll be on the move this month. Mavropanos may get a loan because he desperately needs to play, although with Chambers' injury he'll probably end up staying.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Smith Rowe has joined Huddersfield on loan.
John-Jules has joined Lincoln City on loan.
Nketiah could be heading to Norwich for the rest of the season.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Arsenal in advanced talks to sign PSG left-back Layvin Kurzawa. Negotiating today over deal for this window. Free agent in summer so trying to do it now without fee. #AFC working on 3-4 loan / free / low fee deals (doesn’t mean will do all) @TheAthleticUK: https://t.co/OmzZiA5Ije

Short-term, cover is needed for Tierney and Kolasinac. Long-term though, will be interesting to see what happens. Kurzawa is injury-prone himself.
Arsenal working on other deals apparently. Nothing extravagant. Probably more loans/short-term deals.
Also Nketiah is now staying for the rest of the season apparently.
