Why Joel Campbell isn't getting regular playing time at Betis{to add upto what Jay has already mentioned}:

I wouldn't say the management have a problem [with Campbell playing for Costa Rica], but it is definitely a frustration. Pepe Mel signed Campbell on loan to be a good squad player and make an impact whether it be from off the bench or from the starting line-up once he acclimatises to life at Betis, unfortunately he has done neither.

He wasn't included in the squad for the last game against Real Sociedad. He then jets off for Costa Rica commitments against El Salvador, a game in which he didn't play as much as a minute. This sort of thing will definitely annoy the Betis management and of course Campbell has tried to shut down the rumours that playing for his country is detrimentally affecting his club prospects.

He [Campbell] hasn't settled in at all. He has spent a lot of time away from the squad which won't help his bonding with his teammates. He has said recently, it is difficult joining back up with his teammates and fighting for a squad place when everyone else has been training with the manager since Monday. One advantage is that he naturally speaks Spanish, which if he didn't would be a big problem.

The media are certainly interested in Campbell, which is a good thing, with mostly positive comments such as 'he is the hope of Costa Rica', but I can see a little annoyance creeping in as he has played more minutes this season for Costa Rica than for Betis. The club vs country row is definitely in full flow, unfortunately so for Campbell. However, he has said he is 'contento' at Betis and that he hopes we see the 'real' Joel Campbell soon.

Joel Campbell just scored a bit of a boss goal against Deportivo. I've been watching the last half-hour of the match, thought JC looked a bit tired and anonymous, but it was a really nice long-range strike.

Let's hope he earns more playing time and can start to be integrated into Arsenal's first team in a season or two.

as Wenger says playing in such role in right hand side can help him develop in to more complete player
his link up is good ,tracks back(but lose the run of full back at times),is predictable and give the ball away close to touchline, not much success in 1 vs 1 situations
wide right defo not his best role!

Betis scored early on in 2nd half and for most parts were behind the ball defending and looking for counters

Joel spent majority of time in deeper areas as indicated by his heat map

at time he got forward maybe with better final balls by team mates he could even scored
but they played more portion of passes on the left side with castro switching to wide left role

Joel was also target for some of longer balls by either keeper or diagonals from defenders in which he missed mainly due to anticipation

his off the ball movement should get better though

he was also kicked a few times which is not bad preparation
but there was clash of heads late on and Joel went down ref didnt stop the play and their keeper forced him to stand up what a joke

He's way too selfish at the moment, kinda reminds me of Sturridge style-wise.

Clearly talented, can dribble, shoot and pass but has to improve in some mental aspects like decision-making and movement off the ball.
