Prime Carvalho was better than Terry

Prime Carvalho was one of the best defenders in the world People argue that Terry is better than him. At the moment, yeah, I agree, but Terry was by no means a better defender than Carvalho when they were paired together. Terry's biggest weakness was and is attackers who can turn quickly like Aguero etc. He is helpless against them, stops with fouls only

I agree. Terry was always overrated to me. He was a good CB, but he also had some of the best cover ever in a in form Essien and pre-injury Ballack.

Dunno if he was the better, but I always felt he was the most important one, when he was losing form you could notice how Chelseas defence were starting to lose it (but you can argue that Terry was losing form aswell)

Carvalho seamlessly fitted into Madrid's starting 11. Different league, different tempo and style of play.

On the other hand, I can't really see Terry doing the same.

i agree with OP 100% and i think ricky is criminally underrated, but the reason the carvahlo-HT patnership wotked so well was cause they were perfect foild for eachother and complimente eachother perfectly
thats why chelsea best CB pairing now is JT-DL because its the closest thing to the JT-carvahlo of old

Liverpooi, I really like you (no homo) You just need to visit Real Madrid section once and you'll notice that we want him benched in big games If you read that far then I guess you'll get our point. We critisized him a lot in the last few days and some fans from EPL came to say 'Terry is better'
Terry is better now but not back then in their primes

Terry is probably the most underrated player on this forum. He was a lot better than Carvalho.

Maldini, Nesta, and Cannavaro are all wayyyyy above Puyol, Ferdinand, Carvalho, Terry, etc. And thats just this generation.
