Don't say that
I reckon 3-4 signings will happen though- not to mention a lot depends on Cesc, Nasri and Clitchy.

Even if Clichy, Fabregas and Nasri all stay I'm still expecting at least three players will be signed.
Also, it's possible that Arsenal have already tied up a couple of deals and are just waiting until the window opens officially before confirming them.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Velez Sarsfield sporting director Christian Bassedas has admitted his side are powerless to keep midfielder Ricky Alvarez.
The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the most promising players in Argentina, and his exploits have drawn admiring glances all over Europe.
Arsenal are believed to be leading the chase for Ricky Alvarez, but the Premier League outfit also have competition from the likes of Roma and Malaga for the youngster's signature.
Bassedas recognises it will be impossible for Velez to keep their prized asset, who is valued at €10 million, as the club also want the midfielder to flourish and seize an opportunity to further his career.
"It is impossible for him not to go, we cannot retain him," he told TyC Sports. "There are offers that are [irrefutable]... not just because of the [economic] figure, but if Arsenal come, well... then you have to tell the player 'look, you deserve it'. Ricky has a lot to win."
Earlier on Friday, Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini suggested Ricky Alvarez had already signed for Arsenal, and such claims now seem to be gaining momentum.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Seems like signings are close to be completed. However i agree that maybe the club is waiting for 1july.
I forgot about alvarez amidst the nasri and gervinho saga.
I hope he has strength like tevez which will make it easier for him to adapt in the epl. As for sissoko, for one minute i thought it was liverpools rejected one now playing in juve.imagine my horror then saw it was moussa sissoko from toulouse. We need a DM so it is worth looking at.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Ok there seems to be a problem with Samba talks.
Before, the deal was agreed on 8m, like it was revealed by the media etc. However, Blackburn and their inept management just realised they owe money to Hertha Berlin because of some sell on clause, and are now demanding 7 extra million from Arsenal.
yes 15m for samba.
I think we wont agree on that, maybe 10-12m will be our final offer. Also i think Samba will put in a transfer Request which might make it easier but doubt it.
So no idea what will happen. Either Samba will come, or wenger might go for 17m Cahill/Jagielka

samba, cahil and jagielka are all overrated and just not good enough imo, just extremely overrated by the english media just because they can head a ball. defenders that play for teams like arsenal need more to them then just heading ffs.

We need those sort of "can only head" players, since none of the ones we have can actually head for real
Cahill and Jagielka are meh, but at least Samba is a physical beast.

After we registered an interest in Samba, didn't he turn around and sign a brand new contract with Blackburn? If so, why the hell would you do that if you had every intention of leaving...

Tbh, I really don't think Samba has all that much to contribute.. I'd rather we spend the same 15mil to sign Sakho! Way better than Samba/Cahill/Jagielka..

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
It should be pointed out that the domestic transfer window opens earlier than the European window. That's why there's a lot of news about Premier League players going to other Premier League clubs and hardly any foreigners coming in. Note how De Gea hasn't officially signed yet.
One of the reasons why United got their targets so quickly is because they didn't hold back on the fee. They hardly negotiated a fee and just paid what the selling club wanted.
Arsenal don't operate like that. That's why we shouldn't be concerned about what United are doing. We'll haggle as much as we can and won't pay over the odds for a player. Say what you want about how talented Jones is: £20,000,000 is an inflated fee.

there is a reason why we were the only club to make a profit last year
we run the things like they way it should be.

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
arent you worried you would lose out of quality players tho?
say another big club gets after Gervinho but isnt worried about paying a little more than he is worth to secure his signing, surely you are losing there no?

We never go after the same players as everyone else, and we've already had a fee agreed for Gervinho so that point is moot.

Arsenal are cheap anyways, and with Wenger as our manager, you know he wont overpay, especially for average talent, hence why I dont think Wenger will pay 15 for Samba.

i find it funny, wenger always tries to bring french players... and everyone is screaming for some domestic talent. Now, he tries to bring an EPL defender, but majority wants Sakho, a french guy!

Sums up the fickle nature of our fans pretty nicely, really.

Arsenal are now in advanced negotiations with three key targets, Phil Jagielka, Gervinho and Ricky Alvarez - BBC

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
How long have we been in "advanced negotiations" with Gervinho?
If Jagielka is signed we can forget about Leighton Baines as a potential Clichy replacement, which suits me just fine.
Incidentally, Jagielka can play as a midfielder. He used to play there very often for Sheffield United.
