Eccentric/insane Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis stormed out of the televised UEFA Champions League fixture draw for the 2011/12 season, upset that his club's first season back in the Champions League won't be as easy as he had hoped. The movie producer who took the club from bankruptcy in Serie C to a third-place finish in Serie A last season has never been afraid to blurt out whatever he feels like and the fact that this event was broadcast on live television didn't change that.

Re: Group A Discussion
This is the worst possible group for everyone. Bayern could not have got Dortmund so City & Napoli were the toughest possible competitors in the 2 pots. Apart from Milan all opponents were on the same level in POT 2.
I dont know who will make it. I honestly dont. I see Bayern right after Real, Barca & maybe ManU. But City are dozens of expensive players.
It does depend on our home gamez. If we win the three home games in allianz arena we will go through. I am not too much worries about City if your central defense holds through. After what Young & nani did to city's fullbacks I am positive ROBBERY will rape Kolarov & Richards. Rossi-Nilmar or Cavani-Lavezzi do worry me though. I dont know what badstuber will do.Boateng is very good but is bads gets exposed then we can expect a shocker.
The other possiblity is if we qualify 2nd we might have to face MAN UNITED who i think i group C. EVERYONE GETS SCREWED in this group.

You Guys know I'm a die hard Bayern Fan but to be honest the only way we are coming out of that group is if Robben, Ribery, Gomez, Boeteng, Neuer, Lahm, Rafinha, and Schweinstgeiget manage to stay fit.
I mean we can do without Badstuber(Breno or Van Buyten) Gustavo(Tymo) Muller(Kroos). mean expect real shit if any of the other players get injures must especially Gomez

No i agree as is Arsenal's group i think with Dortmund and Marseille that they will find it hard.....
Both are competitive groups in my eyes
Is it possible for more exciting clubs to make a poor mans group? I do not think so

It's really too bad for these teams, there will be a big losers in that group, no UCL, no Europa, top teams, really a shame.

Group A:
Bayern should have the CL routine to go through.
If City don't collapse in away games (Dynamo Kiev 2 - 0 Manc City), they'll go through as well.
Group E:
Interesting to see what sort of reception Mata will get in Valencia...
Valencia & Leverkusen need top performances against Chelsea if they're both hoping to progress.
Group F:
Arsenal FC (ENG)
Olympique de Marseille (FRA)
Olympiacos FC (GRE)
Borussia Dortmund (GER)
This is one tough group. Arsenal are the favourites... but will they sign enough quality before September 1?
Marseille & Dortmund will ask some questions from Arsenal.
Never easy to go get 3 points from Greece, Olympiacos' 3 home fixtures could play a big role in determining which of the other 3 teams will progress.

BvB doesn't have the international experience to match us or Arsenal, Arsenal has key losses in midfield, and Olympiakos has enough talent to cause an upset or two
Watch us take first, Arsenal take second and BvB a close third by virtue of a loss to Olympiakos that OM and Arsenal managed to stay clear from

Re: Group A Discussion
I'm scared for Villarreal's chances of advancing. I have a feeling they could end up last in the group.
Against Odense they were just dreadful and lacking motivation. They made a ton of mistakes defensively! I don't know if this is just a sign of lacking match fitness (due to the La Liga strike) or because they have their fundamental tactics wrong.
Zapata who is supposed to be an improvement to their defense has actually been rubbish and made one amateur mistake followed by another (which cannot be blamed on lack of communication with his new teammates, either!).
What concerns me most about their defense is Joan Oriol (left back). He's physically weak, doesn't really have much pace either and links up poorly with the midfield. He's an extreme weakness. Their attackers (Rossi, Nilmar) basically do little to no pressure whatsoever and a lot of times the same concerns their attacking-minded midfielders too (Cani, Borja Valero).
In Champions League they must have a totally different mentality if they want to succeed. Mentality is key for advancement. They have all the talent to make it but they need to have the belief in order to fulfill their goal. The way they keep possession and pass the ball around can be pretty Barca-esque.

I agree, at home I don't see any club overtaking them. Away though and I think we could see them falter, not much, but just enough that clubs with experience (and longevity) as European contenders can make them pay
I would not be surprised for them to take second over OM or Arsenal but they will not sail comfortably

Re: Group A Discussion
Perhaps every other team in Group A is scared because of Bayern Munich, and now their Managers will be wishing the worst on Arjen Robben and Ribery.
Is about time Robbery and Gomez reap some defense apart.

Dortmund lost at home to Sevilla in the EL and only tied with PSG.
Their stadium isn't that impressive for international games. Only 65.000 allowed in instead of the 80.700 for Bundesliga games.

That's exactly why they'll be embarassed. Schweini to kill their midfield with ease. 60% possession guaranteed.RedEyesWhiteBeard wrote:InterMalia wrote:My prediction is Bayern to embarrass City and Napoli and then lose in spain but will still top the group.

City looks so determine, evil and mean this season, as soon as they start getting their chemistry together they will be absolute world-class and expect some damages with the intelligent play of Silva, Aguero, Nasri, area ability of Dzeko & Beletolli and determination of Tevez. Thier midfield is very strong with Toure, De-Jong, Barry. and untop of that they are very strong in depth. I think we should bombered them on the wings thier wickest position in defence and that our strongest position. with Robbery and Lahmfinha.
The only problem is lets hope Robbery, Gomez, Lahmfinha, Boeteng or Schweini don't get injured cos we dont have quality players to replace them
