Re: Valencia Thread
It's possible, however it does depend on Simeone staying. If he leaves and Costa gets sold, then I can see them returning to their previous state.
In terms of Valencia, it's should be fairly easy getting that 4th spot in La Liga. They just need to assemble the best team possible.

Re: Valencia Thread
if Atletico Madrid maintain this for more then 3 years i'll say it's easily a top 3 league..
as for top 4 I don't see it happening anytime soon even with a Valencia takeover..
unless they inject money into Valencia like PSG or City does
I heard they will only have a 50m spending??
that wont even get them an Ozil type of player

everyone remember Alcorcon from when they played RM in the copa del rey, back then Alcorcon played in the third division of Spanish football

Re: Valencia Thread
A 3 team league is more realistic
Even if Valencia do well from the takeover, how are they going to convince loads of top players to come when they can just as easily join up an equally or even more financially sound club and compete for the league year in, year out
I doubt it will become a 4 horse race in the forseeable future
If Atletico can keep it up, a 3 team league isn't too hard to imagine. Although it's fairly unlikely I'd say.

4 I don't think , more realistic 3 and it would be a good thing...
in this football there is not the same balance than once in all European leagues ... 3 squads who vie for a league is much,by this time...

I'll just say that Takeovers won't become successful as they would in the PL or elsewhere because of the imbalance of the TV rights and the duopoly of Madrid and Barcelona. It's just not a good business prospect for the companies. They will have to spend a lot from their own pocket with little coming in with the profit. Reason why Malaga owners failed so badly.

Malaga are still a lot better off now then they were before the takeover, the owner is complying with FFP and financially the club is stable, let's not forget how close Malaga were to reaching the semi's of the champions league last season.
i actually respect Malaga for dong things the right way

the example of an ozil type of player is world class.
and for them to make it top 4 and be contenders in the champions league they need a world class player.

They had to sell 3 of their key players this summer to find stability in finance. Before that they were struggling to pay wages to their players. They are going nowhere after the takeover since the owners don't want to spend their own money and there is no money to earn in la liga.

Re: Valencia Thread
That's really old news, yes they did that to comply with the FFP, the owner doesn't want to sell Malaga, he just wants to do things the right way, the owner by the way is a billionaire, the cousin of the PSG owner, so there's no financial problems on that side it's down to pride and outlook of the club, they want to focus on developing young instead of oil money transfers

I think even a 3 team league is hard to achieve. Barca and Real are so dominant, I can't see Atletico keeping up with them for too long. Even if they do keep up with them for a couple of years, they'll eventually collapse and it will become a 2 horse league again.

Yeah, even Valencia didn't manage CL every year during their best years (1998-08), though they made it quiet often.

Re: Valencia Thread
So does somebody know the details of the Valencia "takeover"
Do the new owners have a ton of cash? If they do who's to say they will spend? It's a few weeks before the window closes and nothings happened, and if they do have cash they will probably have to paid off some debt first and work on the contraction of the stadium thats been holding them up forever before they begin to spend big on signings

Re: Valencia Thread
You can never have a "big 4" in La Liga.
What you can have is a "large 2" under the "huge 2".
Sure, one of the large 2 can upset the table and might even win the league every blue moon. But no team can compete with the huge 2's larger income, fan-base, history, and prestige.

It would be nice to think that Valencia can spend the little money they get on players instead of debt.
People always go on about the small amount of money la liga teams get, but it's worse because most of that money goes towards club debt, if la liga teams were given the money that say Stoke City get then they'd probably be twice as strong, during these hard times Spanish teams have learned to spend money very wisely unlike many prem sides.
Listen to me very carefully.....

Re: Valencia Thread
I'm pretty sure the "Top Player problem" can be fixed by doing what Valencia have done in the past decade.
Produce top quality talent.
Or we can buy potential talent from Other Leagues or from overseas. I certainly don't think having top players in the future is no problem for a club like Valencia.
The only thing we can do this season right now is to finish at a Europa League spot which I'd be content with.

I doubt there will be multiple significant signings in the Winter. Just one would be fine for now.
As for the owner paying the debt I guess he can choose when to pay though I imagine there must be a deadline somewhere.

Looks like we just landed Vargas.

Hopefully it's worth it. Don't really know much abaout except that he had a stint with Napoli and Gremio.
