Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Liam Brady is putting the finishing touches to Arsenal’s Under 18 squad for next season, with Steve Bould set to boast one of his most exciting crops of talent ever.
Young Guns can confirm Hale End products Isaac Hayden, Anthony Jeffrey and Zak Fagan have all penned scholarship contracts, as have summer recruits Jon Toral, Héctor Bellerín, Serge Gnabry, Leander Siemann and Kristoffer Olsson.
Bould’s Under 18′s will also be boosted by the promotion of several of Steve Gatting’s promising Under 16′s. Brady has personally asked the head teachers of Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, Jack Jebb and Joshua Vickers if they can leave school a year early to move to London Colney full time. All have accepted.
The club are still waiting on answers from strikers Austin Lipman and Chuba Akpom.
All Under 18′s are due back for pre-season next week.

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Arsenal are in talks with the FA in a bid to get Benik Afobe deselected from the England setup ahead of the forthcoming Under 20 World Cup.
Afobe was named in Brian Eastick’s 21-man squad last week, but Arsène Wenger wants to take a closer at the 18-year-old following a series of impressive performances on loan with Huddersfield Town. As things stand, Benik would have report to the training camp in Columbia on July 18th.
It’s not yet clear whether Afobe will be included in the travelling party that jets off to Asia on Sunday, but he may be considered for the friendly with FC Cologne and then the Emirates Cup.
A decision on whether the FA agree to release the player is expected in the next few days.

Hope the F.A. lets him go. Would rather not have our youth players fly off to South America for a relatively pointless tournament.

Not time to sell vela - either time to send him on loan, or time to give him a chance.

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
If Bendy leaves, we are definitely giving a chance to Vela this season! I am not for loaning him. Esp not if he is going to rot on the bench like he did at West Brom. And Vela has to play more centrally. Not that LW substitute crap we attempted last season on the few occasions that he got a game.
Gosh we have so many players who thrive centrally, we should be looking to reinforce the squad with some wingers, all that talk for a new striker is quite unnecessary!! <RvP, Chamakh, Vela, Walcott........ Bendy too? >

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Nah bendy is a pure winger.
Yeah i think the solution is to send him to a club with pretty much no strikers. that way he might get a chance.
Bolton would be a good deal if Sturridge isn't going back, because they've lost Elmander, so Vela could get the other striker spot with Davies.
Still i'd like to see him get some chances with us too.

Bartley as well, what do you guys think of his chances to be starting soon? He looked really good for Rangers when he was on loan there, he's commanding, a leader, in the Rangers v PSV Europa League match he was even shouting at the captain .
David Weir's experience will of course help him a lot as well. I think Bartley could surprise us all as he doesn't get talked about a lot. Could he be the reason why we haven't signed a CB?

if it is any of that pearce crap , then i would say no , otherwise he needs to go to an international tournament , no matter how "pointless" it may be.
proper competitions are needed to help blood a youths passion drive and experience , not keeping him in tournaments like the Emirates Cup.
Anyway , England will somehow get kicked out early

Benik Afobe might have been withdrawn from England U20 squad. Replaced by Saido Berahino. FA will confirm shortly.

he is way too young to make an impact, the experience would have been good even if they not going to get far

lansbury is on holidays because of his under 21 involvment. He is already in the arsenal squad. However if wenger thinks he wont get enough chance in the team, he will go out on loan

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Wilshere got his chance when he was 18 and broke into the first team, Afobe deserves a chance to, he wasn't wanted by Barca for nothing. He could make a bigger impact than expected and could prove to be very useful as a squad player this season plus I don't think he'll take any of the 25 man spots either, there is nothing to lose.

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Lansbury position in the squad is most likely dependant on whether Denilson will still be at the club come the start of the season. I don't believe Denilson will be dropped entirely for Lansbury and between them, Diaby, Wilshere, Ramsey and Cesc it'd be difficult to give everyone game time.
On Afobe: Wenger clearly wants to run the rule over him and he'd get a much better indication of how far along he is in his development by seeing him play against a higher standard of opposition. Potentially he could play against Cologne, Boca, New York and Benfica; all are of a much higher standard than U20 national sides.

Afobe, Vela, RVP, Bendtner, Chamakh, Freeman... isn't that a bit much ?
RVP and Chamakh HAVE to play...
Bendtner should be offloaded + Vela I'm unsure of...

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
. Lansbury is in competition with frimpong and coquelin IMO , out of the 3 one is likely to get sold and one will go on loan and one will be in the first team. I don't think Henri is that good to be honestGoonerJay29 wrote:Lansbury position in the squad is most likely dependant on whether Denilson will still be at the club come the start of the season.
