Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Arsenal have signed 15 year old Swedish defender Kristopher Da Graca following a successful trial.
The promising youngster, who has emerged through the ranks at Gothenburg-based side Hisingsangen Backa, had previously spent time on trial with Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Chelsea, Aston Villa and Malmo.
However, after impressing during a short spell at London Colney, he will now move to the club on a permanent basis, although he will not be eligible to sign scholarship terms until next summer as he was born in June 1998.
The player himself confirmed the move in the Swedish media. He said: “It’s wonderful, it’s like a dream come true. I cannot describe how excited I am about this.”
Da Graca, who usually operates as a centre-back but can also play as a defensive-midfielder, is likely to be eased into English football slowly and will begin life at Arsenal in the U16 side, but could feature for the U18s as the campaign progresses. He joins fellow Swedish youngsters Kristoffer Olsson and Jamaal Raage at the club, but is also eligible to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina internationally owing to his heritage.

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Arsenal U21s drew 2-2 with Stoke U21s. Took a 2-0 lead with a brace from Eisfeld but were pegged back in the second half.
The team was missing several of its best players, including Martinez, Bellerin, Hayden, Zelalem and Gnabry. Others had been loaned out and other were injured.
Seems a decent result, all things considered.

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
An article lamenting the direction the Arsenal Academy's taken (and the club as a whole).
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/michael-calvin-rot-has-set-in-at-arsenal-academy-where-oldschool-values-have-died-8775289.html
In certain respects, like looking at how the players are conditioned due to the preponderance of injuries at Arsenal, there are some serious areas where the club could improve. But other gripes, like the money culture infecting football even for young players, are symptomatic of the sport in general, not just AFC.

http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/243589.html
Arsenal teenager Jack Jebb has been banned for four games for racially abusing an opponent during a Premier League Under-18 clash with Norwich in March.
"the charge came after it was reported by the match officials."
Jebb, 18, denied the allegation but was found guilty by an independent FA disciplinary commission. He was suspended and fined £1,800.

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Our U19s are playing Napoli's at the moment in the UEFA Youth League. The official Arsenal Twitter has been providing commentary:
GOAL FOR ARSENAL! Akpom sends Baranovsky the wrong way from the spot after Lipman was bought down by Anastasio (38) 1-0
GOAL FOR ARSENAL! Lipman fires into the bottom corner after some patient build-up play from the Gunners (52) 2-0
GOAL FOR ARSENAL! It's Lipman again! This time with a wonderful curling shot after being teed up by Akpom (53) 3-0
We beat Marseille 4-1 in the first round of games.

Goal for Napoli. Rubino powers a header past the helpless Iliev from Tutino's cross (67) 3-1
GOAL FOR ARSENAL! This time Akpom does get his brace, tapping home from Ormonde-Ottewill's low cross (79) 4-1
Akpom also missed a penalty.

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
It's full time now. 4-1 the final score, with two goals from Lipman and two from Akpom, plus a missed penalty.
Two games played, two wins and eight goals scored. Not bad.

Re: Arsenal U21s & U18s Thread
Our site says he was spotted playing a couple of youth friendlies for Southend against us. Haven't seen him play so can't really say more than that.
Illiev, Bellerin, Ormonde-Ottewill, Hayden and Akpom I've seen for the U21s. Not sure why Olsson wasn't involved tonight. Toral is still injured, unfortunately, and not back for a couple of months.
O'Conner, Jebb, Maitland-Niles, Iwobi and Lipman have all come up from the U18s. I've seen Iwobi once or twice for England U16s in the Victory Shield and he looked good. He also happens to be Jay-Jay Okacha's nephew. I'm not too familiar with the other four or with any of the subs.
Speaking of the Victory Shield, it may be worth a watch this year. We've got two kids in the squad, Chris Willock, a midfielder, and Kaylen Hinds, a forward who a few people on Twitter have hyped up a fair bit.
