Their former coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev resigned/got laid off after a spell of bad results, and Roberto Carlos was appointed as player coach for the time being.

His first game is next sunday against Lokomotiv, they are currently 7th in the league.

Yes, he apparently became a player manager at the age of 35 for pool, and he stayed for 6 years.
I did not know about that though, so my bad magicros for misunderstanding you.

He won 3 leagues and two FA cups, so he is most probably the most successful manager-player yet.
