His absolute prime was ridiculous. I think he's definitely top 3 all time at his absolute peak and his career has been incredible as well. You can't ignore prime Buffon though. I know a lot of people have forgotten the 2000's decade and they remember Buffon of the last decade which he probably should've retired sooner, but you can't fuck with 00's Buffon. For me probably the GOAT keeper peak.

Theorically others could say that Buffon had  faced highest number of great CFs ... Anyway Buffon was an incredible GK , but Neuer is superior.
The German has won everything  ( yes also Champions League unlike of  Buffon .. twice ),  and always making a decisive contribution.

Moreover he's essentially revolutioned a role .
There is a GK before Neuer and a GK after Neuer.

Neuer represents an evolution of this figure, transforming  the goalkeeper into a wider role, even ignoring those  limits that are prefigured to the GK.

Not just saving shots, but he's became the archetype of the GK who  must also build the game  together  his teammates.

We 've seen him even go out from own area, so as to attempt to steal  ball to his opponents, sometimes by feet but also by head.
Neuer in World Cup 2014 was the definition of " total GK ".
Incredibly he hasn't won Balon D'Or that year..

Moreover he's introduced new techniches of saves in the game.

Neuer  "inciorporated"   the concept of dynamism started with Dutch football in '70s and he 's combined it    it with futsal.
In futsal , the GK often stands up and  exits  at an "Iberian cross"

We've begun to see this  with Neuer.
