Could Bale be a long-term replacement for the aging Alves? If you think about it, their qualities are quite similar, and there are no good right-backs that seem able to replace Alves atm.

Perhaps in a few years, Bale will be the rampaging left wing-back, with a more defensive-minded Abidal-like player on the right.

Lol, some of u guys. It's probably a bs rumor, seeing as how a Bale isn't really a FB nowadays. And for Alves, we have Montoya (no worries). But, let's just say, we did spend big on him and Pep were to find an effective way to incorporate him into the team, why do u all assume its an instant major loss?

Bale to play at LB ? that would be suicide against Real Madrid.

Alves is great defensivly for barca when he decides to sit back I don't know what people are talking about. His positioning is sometimes more of a right midfielder at times so of course he gets exposed its natural. His slide tackles are always pin-point accurate and he can run for days, Bale can never replace him.

Totally agree with this post. Why do people on here underrate Bale, well it's obvious he plays for Spurs. I will admit the initial hype he got was way to much. Also, for all his skills I would like his goal and assist totals to go up but other then that he is a fantastic talent. He is a little one dimensional but he is great at that dimension plus he crosses well and has good technique.

I think he would fit into Barca's system perfectly and would be a terror on the wing as teams would not be able to double team him pretty much ever with Messi and company on the field. As for 41 mill, thats about right. People need to wake up and realize how inflated the market is. Players like Henderson are going for 20 mill, you don't think Bale is worth twice as much? Bale brings a dimension to a team that few others can hence he is expensive.

they should buy jordi alba, he a midget like them and is really really fast. he is like alves lb.

Bale's too one dimensional to play for Barca.

Scary move if it happens, i would be scare, Bale can run past anyone, and the donkey league defenders that can stop him play for shitty clubs, so he will be unstoppable in CL. thankfully, barca has no money

He's a very good young player lol tho, i seriously could see him becoming Barca's LB in a few years......
