I'd rather have a through-and-through business person than any ex-player.

Rather have a former club president, or NGO functionary, than a businessman. FIFA is officially a non-profit, and should be run as such.

So Qatar just played their first worldcup qualifier against Maldives away from home and were drawing 0 - 0. I was watching the match there were no major stoppages jn the second half. Couple if subs and an injury. But at the 90 th minute an 8 minutes of additional time was shown and on the 9th minute of additional time they scored. Tell me this is not day light robbery?

http://www.espnfc.com/fifa-world-cup/story/2579223/fifa-reform-chief-francois-carrard-defends-sepp-blatter

Original article quotes are from: http://www.lematin.ch/sports/football/j-certain-fifa-disparait-football-mort/story/24665500

Francois Carrard, head of FIFA's reform commission:
On Blatter wrote:"There is something unfair in the way he has been treated. He certainly made mistakes, but he also brought positive elements.

"Unfortunately, it's always like that when somebody stays too long, the negative takes over. This man is being treated unfairly. And if we talk about corruption ... I have on my table all the U.S. proceedings. In the indictment, there is not a word against him. Nothing."

On US investigation and football wrote:"For the U.S., football, soccer, does not have the same weight as baseball, basketball and American football. There, it's just an ethnic sport for girls in schools."

Oh boy, here we go again.

Fifa secretary general Jerome Valcke has been put on leave and released from his duties until further notice.

A Fifa statement said it had "been made aware of a series of allegations involving the secretary general".

Somewhat new staff

Mark Pieth, a Swiss professor of criminal law and Fifa’s former anti-corruption adviser, said there was “prima facie” evidence about the sale which saw Warner make a profit of at least £11million. Blatter signed the contract selling the Caribbean rights for South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 to the Warner-controlled Caribbean Football Union (CFU) for $600,000 — about three per cent of the sum Warner sold them on for. wrote:

Fifa President Sepp Blatter is currently being questioned by representatives of the Swiss attorney general, the BBC understands.

In a statement, the attorney general's office said it had opened "criminal proceedings" against Mr Blatter.

It said he was being investigated "on suspicion of criminal mismanagement as well as - alternatively - on suspicion of misappropriation".

Appears Platini was being paid off by Blatter to the tune of 2 million Swiss Francs. So we have the Korean who paid off the refs in the Korean/Japan World Cup and Michel Platini contesting for the presidency of FIFA. Maybe Maradona has a chance.

Just politics. Every politician gets paid off. It's the extent of it and how prevalent it is... as long as it's controlled (in the US, they call it "campaign contributions" or "lobbying"), it's just part of the game. When it's too much, then it's a problem.
