It's nothing like football lol, it's 2 individuals fighting under MMA rules and regulations. And if person A is good enough to fight person B, then they don't need to fight every Scrub, dick and harry to get a shot at person B.

Not to mention person A is already more popular than any of the competition and a bigger draw, unlike the championship team fluking their way to a cup final or whatever.

Padding his legacy? Yeah you're correct. But for him to do that he has to actually defeat another champion. It's up to the champion to... you know... prove that he's a worthy champ and defend his belt.

If Connor wins, then he won because he's the better fighter (probably) which means this entire argument is invalid.

It would have been like putting Brock Lesnar against absolute bums for 5 years in 200 strong crowd events because all he had was a rasslin background and aside from that had nothing else in his locker.

Him beating Alvarez doesn't make him the best or one of the best in the LW division. Also, the champion should have proved that they're better than most of the people in the division.

nah, could have gone either way IMO, was a close fight, still not sure who won in my eyes, bad performance from Bisping considering who his opponent was but a decent fight

if not the best, then top 3 of all time MMA card at the weekend, definitely the best of the UFC era. Def better than UFC 100 IMO. Pretty hyped. hmm

Agree with all your picks except for Romero, unless he ends it early i see him gassing out in the 2nd or at most the 3rd.

Mostly picking Romero because I think there will be a 'surprise' winner on the MC. I agree that if Weidman is at his best he will beat a Romero after tiring him out.

I think Weidman takes post failed-test Romero. I like both Joanna and Karolina so I just went with my gut. The only fight I'm really confident about is the Cerrone one because he's a beast but even then if Gastelum can get to him early I think it could be a competitive fight. Fantastic card. Probably the best ever. It also just happens to fall on my birthday so that's pretty cool too.
