Ramos is a good defender but more of a full back than a centre half, he even defends like a full back.

Carlo Ancelotti- He has everything that Paolo Maldini had; personality, technical quality, the ability to be a leader on and off the field. I have never compared anyone to Maldini. Right now Sergio is the best defender in the world.

Ancelotti likes making comparisons to Maldini. Just last year he said that no defender had the speed, concentration, anticipation, and heading skills that Thiago Silva did.

It's a good thing that Maldini sees defenders through clear eyes.

Maldini (2013): "Today, I can say that Thiago Silva has no rival in his position. He is by far the best defender in the world. Sergio Ramos is physically very strong but Thiago Silva is better and much more decisive."

Maldini (2013): "It’s a compliment for me to be compared to him. Especially the way he plays in the area. He is an exceptional player."
