He'll probably be much cheaper than Modric and Sneijder, already PL proven...and his passing range is probably only matched by Scholes...much better passing range than both Wes and Modric. United and Real have done plenty of business with each other in the past and the relationship between clubs are fairly strong.

Will probably help them keep more than 33% possession when facing Barcelona next time...anyone think it's a likely scenario if Modric goes to Chelsea and Wes insists on ridiculous wages ?

Madrid wont sell and i doubt he will help them keep more then 33% possession if his performances in any of the clasico's are anything to go by.

Madrid wont sell, he is also too "old" in that he would only be a stopgap solution, in 2-3 years they will be left with the same problem...trying to replace an aging, declining centermid.

Alonso is already nearing 30; wouldn't be a Smart invest considering price and years left. Aim for someone a few years younger.

I was using the most extreme example I could think of. This is a ludicrous proposition. United would be shelling out $35m+ for a player who's going to give them 2-3 more years of top-level football at best. Madrid don't have any interest in selling him either O.o
