Miguel Angel Lotina named new Villarreal coach
Villarreal have announced on their official website that they have appointed Miguel Angel Lotina as the club's new head coach with immediate effect.
The Primera Division outfit were in the market for a new trainer following the departure of Jose Molina, who was given the sack on Sunday in the wake of the team's 1-0 loss to Levante, and they have now confirmed Lotina as his replacement.
The 54-year-old will take charge of the Villarreal training for the first time in Monday morning's session, and will be presented to the press afterwards.
Lotina had been out of work ever since he left Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2011 after the club's relegation to the Segunda Division.
His other coaching stints included clubs such as Logrones, Numancia, Badajoz, Osasuna, Celta, Espanyol and Real Sociedad.
Molina was promoted to the Villarreal first team from the reserve side back in December to replace the sacked Juan Carlos Garrido, but guided the side to only three victories in his 11 league games in charge.
Lotina's first match at the helm will be against Real Madrid in La Liga on Wednesday.
