Re: Ze German Thread
I thought they played well for 80 of those 90 minutes though, I'm a bit mad at the commentators ATM, they acted like this was a huge trainwreck.
We hit aluminum friggin 9 times, on another day that can well be 4 or 5 goals, and we only really hit a slump for the 10 minutes right after we conceded a goal. Then the team bounced right back and f*cking assaulted that goal. The fact that we only got 4 goals was mostly woodwork and bad luck, we played extremely well, besides aiming like 1 inch better, how can you improve that attacking display? We were awesome.
The defense. Meh. No Stubsi, no Hummels, no party. And I really don't see the big issue with Neuer. It was a huge howler, but we all know this isn't happening to him again, ever.

Especially to Neuer , wth he's thinking coming out and trying to dribble past the opponent leading to a goal to his own net? I mean, it's one thing to slow the game after leading 3:0 to save energy or whatever, but to do a silly thing like that
Also, Gundogan
Of course it's just Kazakhstan, but it's so refreshing watching the way he played. Even better than his match vs France.
Schweini-Khedira is a great pair and very solid, but when it comes to the creative play they leave it all too the CAM to run it. But Gundogan actually put himself at the heart of creative play too and combining very very well with the guys upfront and elevate the offensive play massively.

Re: Ze German Thread
Well, to be fair, Schweini scored as well, and it's pretty easy to push forward against Kasakhstan. Lahm was basically a winger for that match.
Still, those combinations were tasty as hell, and I'm so disappointed Gündogans first shot hit aluminum only - that would've been the goal of the month at the very least.

Well, there is no doubt that yesterday's match easily could have ended 9:3, but frankly, I'm always somewhat annoyed that the recent second halves were quite a drop when compared to the first halves.
And mind you, I'm the last person who would crucify Neuer for a mistake, as stupid as it looked yesterday

Re: Ze German Thread
Well, I thought that the first minutes of the 2nd half were ok, and 10 minutes after the goal, we played just as well as we did in the 1st half.
And that 1st half was basically impossible to improve. Except maybe we could have started earlier to try some volleys. Other than that, we played a perfect game in the first. It's just bad our qualifying group is so weak, we really won't be tested significantly until it's basically too late anyway.

So much variety at the AM role for Germany. Kroos, Gotze and Ozil.. who do you think will be the starter for the WC? (unless Low will alternate each game)

Re: Ze German Thread
Kroos has replaced Schweinsteiger quite often in the past, so he did play deep. He is also kind of Löws favorite sub. I'm pretty sure the only player Löw loves more than Kroos is probably Özil.
And Özil will be the starting CAM in Brazil unless something drastic happens. Him, Götze, and Kroos are all playing at a similar level, but Özil is the most proven, and the slot is his to lose, and he won't lose shit.
Götze got his spot as the false 9 pretty much in the bag, Kroos probably won't start. He is absolutely great, but he lacks the defensive capabilities to play deep with any consistency, and Özil is ahead of him in the pecking order for the CAM slot, and Kroos isn't pacey enough for the wings.
He'll get a lot of minutes as a sub, but since the rise of Gündogan, he isn't even the go-to-guy if Schweini gets injured anymore.

Ah, good to know then. Im very much interested in Gotze's development as a false 9. The position after all requires wingers that are able to make runs, while also carrying their natural duties.
Anyways im very excited of the prospect and hope to see Germany strut their stuff in 2014

Re: Ze German Thread
Jogi Löw has a slight problem with the available players for the North America tour of the NT as Bayern and Dortmund have to fight it out in Wembley while the NT is abroad and Real is still in action in Spain, too.
Here's the somewhat unusual call-up:
GKs: 1 René Adler (Hamburger SV, 11 caps/0 goals), 12 Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover 96, 2/0), 22 Marc André ter-Stegen (Borussia Mönchengladbach, 2/0)
Defense: 6 Dennis Aogo (Hamburger SV, 10/0), 2 Andreas Beck (1899 Hoffenheim, 9/1), 4 Benedikt Höwedes (Schalke 04, 12/1), 7 Marcell Jansen (Hamburger SV, 37/3), 17 Per Mertesacker (FC Arsenal, 88/2), 5 Heiko Westermann (Hamburger SV, 24/3), 23 Philipp Wollscheid (Bayer Leverkusen, 0/0)
Midfield: 15 Lars Bender (Bayer Leverkusen, 12/1), 16 Sven Bender (Borussia Dortmund, 3/0)*, 8 Julian Draxler (Schalke 04, 4/0), 24 Kevin Großkreutz (Borussia Dortmund, 3/0)*, 14 Aaron Hunt (Werder Bremen, 2/0), 13 Nicolai Müller (Mainz 05, 0/0), 21 Roman Neustädter (Schalke 04, 1/0), 10 Lukas Podolski (FC Arsenal, 108/44), 3 Stefan Reinartz (Bayer Leverkusen, 1/0), 18 Sidney Sam (Bayer Leverkusen, 0/0), 9 André Schürrle (Bayer Leverkusen, 22/7)
Strikers: 20 Max Kruse (SC Freiburg, 0:0), 11 Miroslav Klose (Lazio Rom, 126/67)*.
*) Sven Bender, Kevin Großkreutz and Miroslav Klose will travel a bit later to the match against the USA in Washington D.C. on 2 June 2013.
Missing in action: Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Jérome Boateng, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Müller, Mario Gomez, Toni Kroos, Holger Badstuber (alle FC Bayern München); Mats Hummels, Marcel Schmelzer, Ilkay Gündogan, Mario Götze, Marco Reus (alle Borussia Dortmund); Mesut Özil, Sami Khedira (beide Real Madrid)
Called up for the U21 Euro: Lewis Holtby (Tottenham Hotspur), Sebastian Jung, Sebastian Rode (beide Eintracht Frankfurt), Patrick Herrmann (Borussia Mönchengladbach)
Still no Kießling

Löw is a bloody clown for not calling up Kießling. That being said, I like the idea to see Beck back in action. I just wonder why he didn't call up Gonzalo Castro. That all being said: now or never! Double Bender pivot! Do it now, Jogi!

Re: Ze German Thread
By the way, the German ladies are currently playing their second (of three) preparation friendlies before the Euro 2013 in Sweden in July in front of an audience of about 10 000 people in Paderborn.
The last friendly against Scotland ended 3:0 for Germany, and today we won 1:0 against Canada after a beautiful goal by Leonie Maier (the 20 year old RB's first international goal in her 8th cap) in the 52nd minute.
The next friendly will be against Japan on Jun 29th.
The German NT is currently plagued by injuries, and coach Silvia Neid will have to go to the Euro 2013 with 6 of her top internationals missing. Nonetheless we plan to bring back the 6th Euro trophy in a row ^^

Re: Ze German Thread
The DFB finally decided it might be a good idea to take the best players along to the next U20 or U21 Championships and not send their top players that are still eligible for these teams to meaningless friendlies with the senior NT.

Germany vs Paraguay (Friendly)
09.) 0:1 - José Ariel Nunez (assist by Candia)

Re: Ze German Thread
How can a defense with individuals like Hummels, Neuer, Lahm, Gundogan, Bender, Mertesacker be so bad at defending?
Low gives his all on making this team strong in attack, but forgets about defence, there's no balance at all.
Even in attack Reus, Klose, Ozil are playing badly.
