all over the news. Andrea Maseillo who plays for Atalanta have been arrested for matchfixing.

the incidents happened last season when he played for bari and eight of Masiello's former Bari team-mates is also implicated.

? Didnt AS Bari play in serie A last season? did this happen last season while he was playing in serie A? Is he still playing in serie A for atalanta today?? Is the article not from today??

Reports have emerged today that S. S. Lazio could be in line for a five point deduction from this season's Serie A championship due to Stefano Mauri's alleged involvement in the match-fixing scandal that has engulfed a nation.

At present it is only speculation, but the rumour suggests that Lazio, along with Genoa and Lecce, will have to face up to charges in a February trial.

Stefano Mauri is suspected to have had some involvement, be it knowledge of or the actual fixing of two matches for monetary gain - Lazio's 4-2 wins over both Genoa and Lecce at the end of the 2010-11 Serie A season. It has been alleged that he placed bets on the game via a special card given to him by a close friend, Alessandro Zamperini, who is believed to be involved in the Calcioscommesse scandal, thus implicating the Lazio captain.

Mauri was arrested on the 28th May 2012 over his suspected involvement in the scandal and has faced the prosecutor twice over these allegations, denying his guilt. He has admitted to placing bets on games but insists he has only ever placed bets on basketball and tennis and has no involvement or knowledge of a deliberate fix on Lazio games.

If found guilty, Lazio could be deducted two points for each of the results that may or may not have been influenced, copying the trend set when Napoli were deducted two points following goalkeeper Matteo Gianello's admission that he tried to influence Paolo Cannavaro and Gianluca Grava to fix a game against Sampdoria in 2010. A further point may be added to the deduction for the severity of the offence and its implications.

Fyi Juve bought the judges in order to eliminate competition in the league. Same happened to Napoli so Inter should be very afraid soon!


By the way Mauri was arrested in May so this was expected.
